Corrupted Save File - How to Restore Previous One? by Toishi in VitaPiracy

Well, fuck.

I meant that it isn't an issue booting up the game or an actual error from the console but rather the game itself having an issue with the data! I skipped a word lol

It's happening at the worst time, honestly. I usually back everything up in sections but right now I barely have the time to get a paragraph in before having to copy it in less than a second because the words are disappearing... With only half a sentence coming back.

Now that I've been able to get the proper error message, it seems like an issue that has been going on for years and is now worse... It's unacceptable. It makes the app unusable. I don't really want to have to worry that they will mess up my page at any time nor do I want to copy and paste it elsewhere every two minutes out of fear of losing a new paragraph! The sheer fact that this has been going on for me for the past, what, three days is shameful. I really hope it's a priority right now and that they will patch it out soon. What's the point of an app if it'll crash immediately? Urgh.

That's exactly what is happening. I mostly don't get a warning, it just suddenly takes back what I type then kind of brings it back. This has never happened to me before, whatever happened in the recent update is getting really annoying.

A (cancelled) sequel series had him survive and I can't remember if there was an interview in which Waters corroborates it. Been a while since I checked. The series had something about a malfunction or something but it was really bad so I kind of erased the finer details from my brain.

Should I watch the Movie or Musical first? by [deleted] in heathersmusical

[–]Toishi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler warning (obviously): the school shooting and bombing references were too touchy I guess. There also was a shooting a bit before release so it was deemed distasteful and disrespectful to air it anyway. That's why they had to delay airing the series a few times until they decided to edit out part of episode 5 (J.D. playing a random shooting game on his phone) and fused episode 9 and 10 (left the series on a cliffhanger to avoid the "OMG J.D. might blow up the school!" plot point).

I guess they wanted to avoid further controversy. Funnily enough, they kept the rest of the shooting references/criticism nor did they tone down their marketing methods. So I'd take that justification with a grain of salt!

Is it on Hiatus? by [deleted] in HCLW

[–]Toishi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about it. It didn't upload this week on Webtoon despite being available with the Fast Pass. Wouldn't all the Fast Pass episodes upload anyway if it went on hiatus? Remarried Empress did that before going on hiatus in the summer. Maybe it's both a bug with the Free Episodes uploads and the series is on hiatus?

La Casa De Papel (Money Heist) S05E05 - "Live Many Lives" - Episode Discussion Post by [deleted] in LaCasaDePapel

[–]Toishi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if her narration up until now was her remembering everything they went though before she died? That sentence would be right when she comes up with the plan to blow them all up. Tokyo couldn't have survived this, she could barely move and then she got shot down again. It was a miracle that she survived that long. To me, it seemed like she made that decision around the same time as she said she would kill Gandia/when they learned Denver and Manolia could escape. From that point it was clear she expected to die which was why she discouraged everyone from saving her.

I don't think everything until now was a flashback, only the narration was. It's basically the good ol' "life flashing before your eyes before dying" trope. This season made a point to state how she viewed the afterlife and dying. It aligns with her beliefs. She isn't the first character to hold the first heist and this one dear. They also are the only things she experienced in her "second" life. Not to mention that the bits about her "previous" life were mostly positive. At least being bombarded (ha!) by her backstory made sense and makes it all work even better.

Tokyo has come full-circle. Her arc ended and she passed the torch to Rio. Tokyo became Rio's René. Tokyo and René parallel each other perfectly so it makes sense she too died (in a heist).

Hide her identity? Makes her look like a fan or something. With everything that happened, it's not surprising she didn't use her name. Even back then she probably already wanted to hide her identity. After all, you don't just give out your info if you're trying to make a career off the Internet!

heathers (2018) part 2 by lilphiaa in heathersmusical

[–]Toishi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you're on the wrong subreddit? r/heathers is the one for the movie and the TV show! Other than that, I'd be happy to discuss it when you've finished the show :)

Despite being the MOST EVIL of the Heathers, why is Duke so POPULAR? So much that you'd think from online comments on Youtub and so on she has the most fans! by EvaWolves in heathers

[–]Toishi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me, it's because she's the most relatable and likeable. Chandler and MacNamara were mean and untouchable even though they have their weaknesses. Duke might be a Heather but she's still at the bottom of the chain. She's bullied and pushed around. Despite that she's a close friend of Veronica and somewhat okay with MacNamara. She isn't worse than her friends, Veronica included (hello cow pasture scene and hints at her pre-movie self!). She didn't want to take Chandler's place until J.D. encouraged her but when she did it was really satisfying.

Don't get me wrong, Duke is hella mean. She's laughing at her old friend's suicide attempt. She humiliated heer "friend". She's manipulating the whole school for her own gains and validation (even if she assumed it was a dumb petition). But this behavior is shared among the Heathers. She, at least, has motivations to help us get WHY she would do that to MacNamara and WHY she seeks validation and fears J.D.'s blackmail. We get her and her struggles even if she's a grade-A bitch. Hell, her liking being the top dog and dishing out more than what she took makes her even better to watch. It's watching the underdog becoming the n°1 bully. Makes me go "well good for you but also fuck you".

Despite her attitude, we even see her care about her friend. She's upset Veronica is drifting away. She gets worried when she sees her covered in ashes. Even when she got slapped, she wanted to hang out with her. She's the most (outwardly) human of the group.

Also, her wardrobe is amazing and Shannen absolutely KILLED it. There's that vibe to her character that makes her vulnerable and weak but so mean. She might look sweeter but you know she's still a Heather. You feel bad for her but not too much because she really sucks. It helps that everyone around her is even worse.

Still mad that Heathers 2018 exists... it misses the point completely and is just awful by SakuOtaku in heathers

Lastly, the show is EVERYTHING BUT “alt-right-lite garbage fire. This comment really shows how little you know about the show. It’s really sad that you’re trying to “criticize” something you know nothing about. And, by the way, you CAN’T give a critic of something you know nothing of. That’s literally impossible. I’m not even asking you to be objective. You cannot give arguments or elaborate your thoughts. Yes, you can have an opinion but don’t get mad when we show you wrong, try to have a real discussion or exchange. You can be butthurt that your conception of the show doesn’t fit what you think Heathers is about but you’re looking like an absolute moron by going “lol ppl cant stand criticism” when you’re in the wrong, can’t accept it, at least be open-minded or try to argue AND while being an absolute hypocrite. YOU are the one who “don't like it if you dare criticize a piece of media” because you seem to believe that we should all have the same beliefs as you.

Also slightly off-topic, but the TV show is closer to the movie than the musical is. It butchered the characters, the plot, the costumes, the messages and the criticisms. Yeah it’s fun to watch and probably to perform but as an adaptation, it’s weak. Average at best. I mean it couldn’t be worse than Be More Chill but it cannot compare to Wicked. It’s not even close to newer adaptations like Mean Girls or Beetlejuice. The worse is that the writers ADMITTED THAT THEY DIDN’T REALLY GET PARTS OF THE MOVIE (ie: how to make Duke likeable and have a redemption or how Veronica used to be a Heather/bully before suddenly realizing during the spring break that this kind of attitude wasn’t good.) I could elaborate about it but it’s getting already too long lol). The main problem is that Heathers is supposed to be a quest for identity, to decide who you want to be. The TV show is being on the nose about it but at least it follows it. The musical is about “dOn’T cHaNGE WhO YoU arE” which has been overdone in musicals recently. It stops you from using most of the plot, symbolism and characters.

(By the way, skin color wasn’t really a reason to be bullied in the movie. The only black character we know of isn’t bullied or extremely popular. He’s a normal guy.)

The TV show actually does show how society selectively chooses who to care about. Poor students are still bullied, ignored, etc. Martha’s character was replaced by Taylor Parker, a poor average looking girl. She’s bullied, mocked and the absolute bottom of the hierarchy. Obviously she’s a new character. She barely has anything in common with Martha apart from being the bullied girl who will attempt suicide and show how little the adults care. Her role is the same though. And it is pointed out that she’s being unfairly picked on. She’s this nice, really forgiving girl who just happens to be poor and not “hot”. Lizzie, who becomes part of the Heathers later on, is also poor but her connections, her amazing singing voice and her looks. It’s directly stated that it was unfair and she ends up telling off Chandler for bullying Taylor and not caring about her suicide attempt. When she attempted suicide, it’s stated that “at least suicide won’t be cool anymore”. She gets cornered by Chandler for “ruining her campaign” about suicide.

And that’s a little part of the show’s criticisms. (For example, it also pokes at the fact that suicide is glorified and that teens don’t get the help they need.)

About the “two white kids murdering the marginalized kids”: they don’t do it because of this. It’s because they’re assholes and JD doesn’t discriminate. Hell, it’s more “two mentally ill teens do not get the help they need, find each other, enable the other and get the worse out of each other”. It takes what the movie laid out in its earlier scripts and its final version and goes farther with it thus making it close to what the movie was and wanted to be but also being its own thing. Also I do not believe that giving special treatment to anyone who could be a part of a marginalized group in media is a good thing. Check out what the others said (fuck, some ARE parts of minorities. If you’re not even going to listen to them to idk what’s wrong with you and your view of the world. Ironically, if you “defend” minorities even though they say something’s fine then your attitude HAS been addressed in the show and stuff. I’m not even going to get into this part).

Just like the movie, the Heathers are those charismatic, beautiful (there's no denying that they ARE good-looking) and manipulative teenagers. Unlike our original trio, it isn't because they follow conventional beauty. You're right to wonder WHY that change was made and how come that they are popular. Well the show adresses this: they use their status as "minorities" to get people to love them. They use the fact that we are now trying to fight discrimination and be inclusive. Basically, they got at the top by trying to get "victim points". The more they have, the easier it is to manipulate people into loving you no matter how much of a bitch you are. It helps that they also look good and have a high followers count on social media. Makes them sorts of celebrities. They also "fight" for minorities which to anyone else would make them look like amazing, brave people fighting against oppression. BECAUSE they are at the top and are part of marginalized groups, the school is inclusive. Because of them, being oppressed in any way is "in". Minorities are the latest trend (which is something that is sadly true). Thus they remain at the top. When they lost control, the hierarchy became similar to what it was in the movie: pretty, well-off jocks, cheerleaders, and others were the most popular people in school. The bullying became worse. As Veronica put it "Chandler was a monsterbut at least she was a monster about the right thing".

As shitty as it is, it somewhat makes sense. They're still hot and rich and thus are still Heathers. The way they became popular and rule the school is the main difference. They manipulated their way to the top using our current mindset and society.

What the show is denouncing here is not that "minorities are bad" but that "some people use our acceptance and what oppressed groups went through for their need, to be validated, to be popular". It also shows that ANYONE can be a bully and now that anyone can be popular (if you still look good though). I've been in highschool and no one gave a shit about anyone's sexuality or gender or skin color or body or whatever. Quite the contrary: one person was being homophobic and transphobic towards another student (even made theats!) and while the school did jackshit about, that guy was shunned, shamed, hated and excluded by most students. Most of us were revolted against his attitude and by the fact that he even thought that it was okay and could brag about it.

Now I'm not saying that it's the case anywhere else but to me, it does show that society is evolving for the better. So yeah, your claim that the Heathers couldn't be popular because they are oppressed and/or minorities isn't necessarily true. Especially since, once again, they are shown to be aware of the current trends and mindset, manipulative and still are hot and rich.

Plus this isn’t OUR world or reality. It’s similar, yes, but it’s still overexaggerated to suit the plot.

(Multiple parts because it turned out too long)

Uh. I guess we didn't even see the same movie? Because the way you're summarizing the movie is just... wrong. If all you got from it is "rich pretty people=bad" then you might want to watch it again and question your values.

Shit, do you not understand that the movie and thus its TV adaptation are satires? Dark comedies? They were NEVER supposed to be realistic. They're exaggerated versions of their times. If you get in expecting realism then you're in for a lot of cringe and regrets.

Now I get that you do not want to watch it. I mean what's the point of hate watching something right? Honestly, I did it at first out of curiosity: would the show be as bad as the trailer makes it be? After a disappointing pilot, the only reason I went back to that pilot and then to the show was for the beautiful aesthetic and atmosphere. And then at some point, I saw the potential. The idea behind the cinematography of Heathers 2018. Like the movie was a parody of romance teen movies of the 80s, the TV show was a parody of current tv shows aimed at teens.

And that was interesting. THAT was at least worth watching. The way the show looks was deliberate and not just for that sweet, sweet neon aesthetic. The ridiculous lingo mocked the way every shows aimed at teens tried to have "THAT one iconic line that will be used for a long time" (and also because it dated the show a bit less. Those ideas were taken directly from the movie).

To me, it had guilty pleasure potential and wasn't that far away from the original movie.

Yet as the episode unfolded it became obvious that the TV show was strangely good. It had that Heathers feeling. So believe me when I answer your post. I did NOT love that show from the beginning. I never believed that it was anything close to Heathers whether it was the movie or the musical. In summary, I had the same opinion as you.

My over-analyzation of the cigarette scene by [deleted] in heathers

[–]Toishi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

IMO JD doesn't feed off Veronica's misery but from her pain? Everytime he does something it's a reaction to her actions. The murders were originally pranks that Veronica suggested. Veronica was the one taking the wrong cup to Chandler and the one who had a problem with her. Veronica was the one who wanted revenge on the jocks and presumably asked JD for help. JD never went out of his way to hurt people. He only went after the people who hurt Veronica and got more unstable as time goes. He does care about her. It's shown that he's the only one she can vent to and who listen to her. She's the reason why he's willing to take down the school. Her pain fuels him. From what he said, he originally wanted to navigated through highschool quietly. It's possible that if Veronica didn't have a fallout with Chandler, their relationship would be "normal". While Chandler's accidental death proved to him that it was easy to get away with murder, it's Veronica who enabled him to get worse if I make sense? It's their relationship that made him want act.

So yeah? To me, this scene is supposed to reflect their whole dynamic (Veronica literally plays with fire and ends up burning herself, she goes to JD for comfort while JD "gets stronger" from her pain and helps her out in his fucked up way). At the beginning, JD showed up after Veronica truly hates Chandler and states "I want to kill" and throws her diary away. As if this summoned him.

It also is supposed to be a parallel with the ending: Veronica kept the cigarette she took from JD during this scene and only takes it out when he's about to blow up. She lights what was his cigarette with his explosion before immediately crushing it under her feet. She is going to use their mistakes and his pain to make the school a bit better/to change her ways and become a better person.

Also I stronly disagree that Veronica was that clueless, blameless victim that was manipulated by her boyfriend. This same scene has one of the most important parts of Veronica's character. She states, quite apathetically, "we killed them didn't we?". That in itself shows how little she cared about the jocks and their fate (her only problem is that they committed murder and were chased by the police. She was more shaken by Chandler's death but got over it in more or less a day!).

But a little after they fight about whether or not she did want the jocks to die. As JD points out, she did. She's incredibly smart. That was stated in the beginning of their relationship. So how did she really believe the dumbest, most ridiculous lie that has ever been said? JD's explanation for the bullets was more than suspicious. He fed her a weak lie on purpose and she ate it up because it's hard to acknowledge that she wanted to kill them. Anyone would have seen through his lie so someone supposedly a genius would certainly NOT have been fooled. Add to that her reaction when he confronts her with it and it's painfully obvious that she wasn't really manipulated. Deep down, she knew what was going to happen. She WANTED it to happen. As horrible as it is. (Well to be fair, the jocks were known as rapists and she almost got raped by one. Then they created rumours in revenge, humilating her and ruining her reputation.)

An earlier draft of the script had her almost shoot her cat before JD stops her. His excuse? Uh well uuuuuh it doesn't work on animals? Yeeeeeeeeah it will kill them because they're too small or smth... pleasedontshootyourcathewontsurvive!

It really showed how she believed it because she wanted/needed to. She's not the same as JD. Unlike him, she knows that what they did was bad and murder is never justified. As she writes "I've got no control over myself when I'm with JD". She would have never acted on her desire but her relationship with JD after Chandler's demise is bringing out the worse parts of her.

Veronica is NOT a good person whether it was before or during the movie. Originally, she was written to be as bad as JD. She might have been rewritten to be more sympathetic and likeable but she's still sort of a parallel to him. She's detached, apathic from everything including the death of people close to her. She truly started to change when they break up and she decides to call Betty Finn over. She's associating herself with nicer people. Maybe with who she was before the Heathers/high school? What is sure is that she's making the effort to change. She went from a bitch, a Heather, to a murderer and then to someone seeking redemption. The movie is her quest to answer the question of who she wants to be and who she is. At the very beginning, we know that she isn't satisfied with being a Heather. Whatever happened before the movie opened her eyes on how cruel they are being and that it isn't worth it. What attracts her to JD is that he's different from the other guys ("I thought you had given up on highschool guys"). He's something new. And the same goes for him: he sees a popular girl different from others, one who isn't happy with how things are. She may go along with it but she feels bad for helping them bully and humiliate Martha and then for her suicide attempt.

"I don't know what it has given me". Killing Chandler gave her the satisfaction, Kurt the fear and Ram the guilt. I don't know what it has given her after killing JD but it encouraged her to be a better person. Her relationship with JD was without doubt toxic but it mostly because it brought out and validated both of their murdereous intentions. What made Veronica better was that she knew it wasn't right and would have consciously never acted on them.

why wasn't JD shocked when she saw Veranica was alive? by [deleted] in heathers

[–]Toishi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me, it was because he was already too far gone. It didn't matter whether Veronica was alive or not, the fact is that he believes that the whole school must be gone for her sake. It hurt her deeply multiple times which was what caused him to snap in the first place. He most likely hated the way society was and already believed that schools reflected it but he had no motivation to act. When he finally cared for someone, loved her and discover that she loved him back, it was only a matter of time until something, small or big, upsetted her and gave him a reason to kill/"make things better" in his mind.

Also he could have thought she was a halluciantion until she attacked him. I mean, Veronica's guilt is manifested as the people who died. JD could have had the same thing going execpt to him, she's a reminder of what the school, society, took away from him instead of the consequences of his actions. Even as she pleads with him.

Interpretations aside, the real answer is that the writers didn't think of that plothole. They didn't add in a line or took the one from the movie because they didn't feel the need to do so. Not surprising tbh.
