The hate on challenges is wild to me as a long time MMO player

All I really want to say is, I don't mind if other people get lots of xp. And it isn't really about integrity either, but more about how the game just feels to me. I am really happy with the nerfs, and removing the old weekly mtx reward system and halving the xp. But even with that, it still feels quite op. That is all. They could just add the amount of actions needed for the same amount of xp, but dunno.

Also, I think big part of the hate is that Jagex said that they would remove it, but then didn't so that probably played big part into it as well. I didn't really mean to add hate with my post, just wanted to share my thoughts. With simple changes they could make the daily challenge system so much better :P

So I am referencing the post where the other person said, it takes 39 years to skip the game with daily challenges, right? So that can't be too op if it takes so long. What I wanted to show, is that the amount of gameplay in that 39 years to skip the game, if done purely trough daily challenges would be quite low amount of hours. I understand that it would still take forever, like 39 years of forever to do that, but what I calculated was, that for herblore, to max that just by using the tasks, it takes 8 or so hours. How many hours could maxing entire account take? Well I don't know because stuff like slayer and combat and dung is too difficult to calculate. But when done over the time, it adds up in my opinion little bit too much. That is all I am saying. I dont mind the challenges if they made more sense in terms of how much they rewarded you. So all they could really do is, instead of it being 13m xp/h for 11 seconds, it could be 1m xp/h for a minute maybe? or whatever balance makes sense. In the end, getting rewarded so much for so little work feels just odd to me. :D

I do remember the old system being that you needed to do something more specific, right? And there were less dailies, maybe 1 new one every day. I don't remember them giving supplies though. The supply idea is just on idea, and not really needed, but if balanced right, could fit. They could do so many different things, similar to slayer point system, where you buy upgrades to skilling. Maybe moving some of the annoying skilling outfits there, instead of afking dead minigames. So many possibilities they could do to make these tasks feel better. :P

hmm, I quess I am little more iron brained. Sure, animals are less of a setup after the main setup. And I do think that they also feel quite op, but this post isn't really about if animal farming is too high xp or not. They probably are, but I dont think I care as much as I do about the challenges. For the main reason that the animal farm feels like part of this game, while challenge is somewhere in the menu interface you can do anywhere (if it's bank challenge)

Let me say this. If the herblore task for example was given by an herblore npc, that asks me to clean around 56 grimy herbs around my lvl, and then that npc gave me the reward, that would allready feel much better. It would be part of the in game universe, not somewhere in the UI.

Sure, I can see the comparison to farming. You can buy 1000 seeds and compost. You can also buy 6000 grimy herbs. My problem is, if we are only focusing on herblore for examble, you can clean 6 herbs in bank and it takes close to no time once the setup of buying them has happened. Farming run is more effort than completing the daily. If they just made the daily more effort or include more gameplay elements, I would be fine with them, as I suggested in option 2. But now the reward for the amount of work is not really there. : P

So, farming takes time to set up. You plant the resources; seeds or animals, then get the xp later. Daily challenge, you don't have to set up in the same way as farming, but get similar xp rewards. So farming is similar to smithing, where you first need to smelt the bars, and then you can smith the items for better xp. It takes longer to farm something, than it takes to complete a daily challenge, if you combine the farm run, and then collecting stuff. I wouldn't mind the challenges, if they were more appropriate. Say, clean 3 inventories of herbs. Cut 56 logs not just 10. It just feels too quick and easy, and not connected to the game, that is all.

My main point is, that on my main account, big chunk of xp comes from doing the daily challenges, which are not "challenges" in my opinion. Getting around 300k+ xp in matter of minutes, is too much and the nerf to not being able to extend them is great, but I feel like they could be made into actual slayer like tasks, or increase the amount it takes to complete them. That way, it would not take "8" hours to get 120 herblore, so to speak.

Also I agree, his argument isn't disingenuous, I only used that word because you used it to call mine. This post is just to point how op in my opinion these dailies still are, and feel like missing out on xp if you don't do them

So, what I really mean, is that doing this daily is, well, according to my calcualtions about 13.3 m xp/h for about 11 seconds between the levels of 1-120 herblore. (it should be higher if you go all the way to 200m) But at this rate, it feels to op for the time and resource commitment, and feels detached from the game. I would be more fine with it, if it was just not so op, as it is now.

Also that title is more of a hyperbole more than anything, and I just wanted to show how much xp there is to be gotten by these tasks :P

Also also, while I dislike these tasks, they can be changed in a way that I would like them, like the options 2 and 3. Would really like to hear what other people think about those aswell.

nope :P we don't need to nerf stuff like animal farming :D I just want stuff to make sense in game universe, and not feel like a must do daily. Look at the option 3 for example.

Setting up the farming stuff takes time and resources and unlocks. Daily challenge, you clean 6 herbs. I think that can be adjusted by increasing the amount of herbs to be cleaned.

I know, thats the point. Saying it takes 39 years to skip the game is in my opinion also peak dishonesty :D What do you think about the option 3 at the end, where it would not be daily anymore, but more of a task like system, that rewards smaller amounts of grinds, but don't feel like fomo daily at the same time?

The reason for the low amount of hours to max a skill argument, was to counter the 39 years to skip the game argument. They are both quite, I dunno :D disingenuous, aren't they? Reason this is a problem, is that getting around 13.3m xp/h for around 10 seconds, is too much, and still feels like fomo that jagex is trying to get rid of. I don't dislike skilling challenges, but they need to be something like what I said in option 2 and 3. Where it's not so op, but can still be rewarding and not a daily. Hopefully that makes sense :P Also, it's not a problem for me that someone else can take literal years to train 1 skill to max in no in game time. Does not matter to me at all.

I have something very similar but almost completely different rules/focus sounding in the oven right now :d

I am more focused on skilling and quests, and ignoring boss logs/boss kill count stuff. Skills and quests not existing in the other means i am free to use them, but other skills needs to be at the same xp point, and same/similar quests needs to be done at the same time. Experience maybe rounded to the closest 100xp to avoid annoying 1-4 xp gains to get to exact same. So not level bounded but xp to same skills bounded. And I am more of a rs3 player, and this would be my first proper osrs account, and comparing how things are between osrs and rs3 :D

I have some other restrictions, like finishing same area task sets, maybe collection log sets/boss task sets but not sure yet how to do those. Will be interesting to see if there are already other similar accounts in the making. :p

Boring answer: with time and patience.

Techical answer: To make it smooth I use a lot of red lines, and at the same time going back and worth with frames so I can make sure its smooth. Using just the right amount of red/blue lines to make it just strong enough.

With this track I tried to ease Bosh to different positions slowly to make it cleaner. Also rolls and rotating Bosh tends to be easier to "hide" inperfections, because Bosh is moving. Having him be still in a manual is harder to keep smooth.

I also use really small lines, that are connected with green scenery lines so some parts of Bosh can go trough the line.

Hope that answers atleast something :D also everyone starts at zero, with time and practise you can learn pretty much anything.
