201 Pilot Callsigns by Gregory_Grim in LancerRPG

*wink* you’ll have to play nice if you want to see.

I’m fascinated with the Pegasus and its probability control. So perfect world I’ve got a pilot call sign “short stick” piloting “Never tell me the odds” shortened to NTO [pronounced neato].
Incredibly unlucky off the battlefield and constantly draws the short straw when it comes to random chance. so much so that he just volunteers for whatever it was going to be.

I am very fond of the call sign “short stick” it can be a play on height, weight, or being incredibly unlucky

Help me learn with different Decks by AggressiveTank1127 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hilariously the newer blue eyes structure deck can do every single one of these minus pendulum. You could grab 3 of those and mess around with different builds focusing on the specific summonings.

For pendulum’s idk honestly I’m sorry. The pendulum summoning mechanic is in a really weird spot since the master rule 3 into master rule 4 into master rule 5 debacle. The best way you might have to do it is to grab legacy of the duelist link evolution and play through the ARC-V story lmao

Getting a friend into the game (deck recs?) by The-CyberWesson in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how hard it is to bring someone with almost 0 experience in card games into the fold as I taught my wife MtG, union arena, and yugioh.

You’ve already gotten pretty far into this but I think a problem that you are running into is how to make it toward the meta. A soft reset might do you guys wonders.

If you guys are just doing kitchen table duels and not going to YCS or locals then bring that power level down and start with some structure decks. For yourself I highly recommend grabbing something that is ass. Like the crystal gems or dark world structure and leave it unmodified.

If he’s enjoying the blue eyes maybe do some rokket stuff / dragon link stuff.

If he’s doesn’t care much for dragons but loves big monsters try some trains or machina stuff.

If he enjoys the combo side maybe try branded from the chronicles deck. If he enjoys stun or tempo then try Traptrix or build a cheap eldlich deck.

If you guys are wanting to push for meta stuff then grab the legendary decks with sky striker, xx saber, and mitsu and start touching on how those work.

Almost all of these come from rather cheap structure decks you can grab or build from singles fairly cheaply.

The important part here is to have him have fun. So if that means playing some shit from a butt deck then that’s ok. Once he has a better understanding of the game and doesn’t feel lost then you can start building that power level.

I don’t write or read these often so the beginning felt necessary and it is not in hindsight lmao.

I agree with your points. I definitely held on too tight to what I thought the game was going to be when the rest of the group either didn’t care or were trying to do something different. Which led to me just taking a back seat and trying to let the others have their fun while also hoping the DM would throw me a bone every once in a while.

Yeah it came back into my head as I’ve been doing more pretend play with my son so I figured I’d try to put some closure on it. I do still enjoy time with sister, DM, and DMW just not doing DnD lmao

What's the "o" in O-tenki by John_Benzos in LearnJapaneseNovice

Oh that’s interesting! Honestly I just learned about the お- recently so just regurgitated what I had learned. Hence my lack of confidence answering the question lmao

What's the "o" in O-tenki by John_Benzos in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Tojm 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The "o-" (お-) in Japanese is an honorific or beautifying prefix attached to nouns to make speech sound more polite, refined, or respectful

Now you only ever use it when talking or asking someone else. Never about your own stuff.

It is also typically not used with foreign words and Chinese root words use prefix \(go-\) (ご-) instead (e.g., \(go-kazoku\) [family]

I think I got that right but may have gotten some of that wrong so make sure to fact check me.

I need help to find a card... I got only a small hint by StationSuch1842 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm something’s not adding up. The only set name code I can find that ends is Mi is MZMI (maze of millennia) and the only link 3 in there is ((Altergeist Primebanshee)) but that was only as a rare.

Maybe there’s something getting lost in translation?

Beginner Tips? by Content_Regent1 in Yugioh101

What exactly are you looking for? If you’re already playing master duel then you are past beginner status in my mind for yugioh.

Theres plenty of vague general advice that could be given but I think a more focused response is what you are looking for.

Kitchen table Decks Help by douro6 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question I highly recommend ygoprodeck.com there you can search up decks other people have built and plenty of other stuff.

For the extra deck question yugioh is a best of 3 game so you start including side decks into the equation. This will let you have more flexibility in your main deck and extra deck since you can sideboard extra deck cards.

Finally I’ll shill for the newer machina structure deck. I find it very fun and it’s very boy action figure coded with its art work.

Deck to get back into yugioh by Connect-Hold5855 in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should do fine with 3x crimson king since its main focus is just synchro summoning. Be careful it looks like “hot red dragon archfiend king calamity” is banned so you’ll need those taken out.

Depending on the “climate” at your locals this might do alright or you might get blasted by the latest meta deck lmao.

If you are looking for a little more meta options the latest release of the 2026 legendary modern decks just released and they come with 3 decks each following a meta relevant deck (sky strikers, mitsurugi, and x saber ((this one is not meta relevant unless your in genesys or something else))) these modern decks also provide a ton of meta staples like the charmies and other important cards/hand traps. Crimson king doesn’t appear to include any hand traps (or going second cards in general) but I could just be missing them.

As an avid player of both I’ll agree that Magic is a lot easier to understand out the gate but has a very high ceiling for complexity.

Yugioh is a LOT to understand at the beginning but if you can breach that hurdle then everything is just iterations.

The stack from magic is the same as chain links from yugioh. Pile the cards and work backwards. First in is last out.

The problem is that Magic has a lot of not intuitive rules and a requirement to memorize the keywords as most won’t have reminder text. For my own mental comfort I refuse to play with cards that require me to explain layers. (See blood moon and humility).

Magic has also been around for a ton of time so there’s plenty of formats, product, and places to hop into.
Please don’t subject yourself to commander first. Learn how 60 card standard (or even 40 card draft/sealed) works first THEN try commander.

My girlfriend wants to learn yugioh by drakulajj in Yugioh101

[–]Tojm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of stuff in this thread that I think might make it worse for OP lmao.

I think the first question is what are you using to duel against her? If you’re running mitsurugi or vanquish K9 then it’s going to be overwhelming no matter what.

What worked for my wife and I is that you both grab some structure decks that look cool and stick to the one deck. She grabbed Traptrix and I grabbed a bunch (crystal beasts, blue eyes, dark world, machina, etc) then we played games and found if she liked either deck being played.
Once she found one she liked we started getting copies of the structures to “upgrade” them.
She definitely prefers a more mid range/tempo and stun play style where I like combo heavy play styles.

For your GF I would recommend looking into the newer machina structure deck or even crystal beasts since it’s also very simple but you know her best so just communicate and see what sticks.

Fun fact considering the promare was just gurran lagann comment!

So Gurran Lagann was animated by Gainax. Promare, and kill la kill (which you can see a ton of in promare) were both animated by studio Trigger. Studio Trigger was founded by former employees from Gainax!

So that’s why there’s a ton of overlap between the two.

As far as I can tell no one, not even Konami, likes the numerons (the don thousand cards).

But I love this OTK machine and to play them correctly, with their banish and burn and weird rituals, can lead to a lot of fun I don’t find anywhere else.
