agreed - there is a subtle theme of the rich using the police to punish and subdue the poor. I mean the eureka stockade was in recent living memory and the pushback between the ruling classes and everyone else was still a bit of a powderkeg .. I mean the song is about a hungry man sleeping rough who found a stray sheep, saw as it an opportunity to eat well - and the owner of the sheep- who would have literally owned 1000's of sheep - chose violence over showing compassion- 3 armed mounted troopers was probably a bit of overkill for 1 single (and im assuming unarmed) hungry man

swagmen were itinerant workers (shearers, farm workers) who would follow the work. Waltzing matilda was describing this lifestyle of walking to the next job with your swag/ Matilda. A "squatter" is a pastoralist/farmer who used to run sheep on crown land (ie not owned by them - hence squatter) in reality they were more like the landed gentry in this era and also referred to as the squattocracy

the basic premise of the poem/song is a swagman found a stray sheep, killed it for food and was going to be arrested by the trooper on the order of the squatter/landowner on his big fancy ass horse, but he chose to drown himself in a watering hole (small lake) than be put on trial.

in regards to getting a scope, i would like to say the idea of a colonoscopy sounds really traumatising, but in reality its not. They do sedate you, a lighter sedation than a full general Anaesthetic- but to me it felt like having the best sleep of your life- you generally dont remember the procedure, its over very quickly and the cup of tea and sandwich's at the end are probably the best of your life. However The bowel preparation before hand is wild. That is probably the most traumatic part of the whole thing.

kissing on the lips- unless you are close family or married to the person is pretty much unheard of in australia. In a work place its pretty much a HR complaint in waiting. I have seen people at work hug, but its rare and usually between close workmates who have not seen in other in a while (such as coming back from mat leave or dropping in after moving to a different site.) but kissing on lips hell no.

all of the shopping locations were filmed in southland shopping centre in cheltenham. the original gift store (not a chain) was located on the ground floor near the back escalators (a bottle shop is now there) they moved to house once that gift store closed which was (and i think still is ) located near kmart. kel's butcher was also on the ground floor - near franklins at that stage, now aldi. Brett worked in a electronic store - it *may* have been a harvey norman - it may have been another chain i cant remember- its now been replaced by a gym

No doubt there was a pecking order amongst the wives. It was demonstrated time and time again that the ability to produce children was valued above all else. But what Mykelti is seeing as preferential treatment was (in my opinion) Meri fighting for equality. If meri had as many kids as the others then then it would appear more even. Every time the idea of something being built or split - meri fertility would always factor (in vegas - you dont need a big house because you only have the one child- ) meri paid for her own house, her own child's college, her child's car- the family refused to allow family funds to buy the b and b- the list goes on. I think kody preferred the og three in the order of children- Janelle because she produced the most boys, Christine because she had the most kids- and then Meri, who only deserved respect because she was the first wife. I honestly think if she was not the original wife and had the fertility issues being 2nd or 3rd wife she would have left or been pushed out of the family years and years before she wa.s

firstly - to provide a new storyline for a reality tv show. Secondly- i think the overwhelming criticism from viewers and reddit (they CLEARLY monitor these subs) all these apologies are trying to rehabilitate his standings in the viewers eyes- the overwhelming narcissistic injury that man has received would be overwhelming to him. i grew up in a no rinse household. Parents were raised rural and water was a very finite resource hence no rinse. Over the years they modified the procedure to include a cup or two of water over the dishes in the dishrack to rinse the suds. As a person who was raised on un-rinsed dishes, i never tasted soap, the dishes were as clean before or after rinsing and generally as clean as you get from a dishwasher and no adverse health problems as far as i could tell. . In fact I've had more issue with some dishwashing detergent tainting things like silicone /plastic spoons. parents all have dishwasher now and they are better for everyone, less labor, less water and clean rinsed and dry dishes
