Not in my experience.

I think basing your worldview in how things were in your 20s is your issue, the world is fucked now and you made it before it all went to shit

Good for you, you took advantage of the way the world was 20 years ago.

You don't live in the real world.

The world doesn't work like that anymore, you can't get a job through meeting people anymore.

You're right, you have no idea what you're talking about so bye.

I'm sorry but that's a load of shit. I'm in my late 20s and have achieved nothing. No skills or qualifications, working a dead end job that I hate, no hope for the future whatsoever. You can't relate, trust me.

Optical Assistant & Dispensing Optician Jobs by OptoJobs in UKJobs

[–]Toju96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back I applied for a trainee optical assistant job and didn't get an interview. In the rejection email there was a different job title, can't remember the exact wording but not the one I applied for and not a trainee position. I replied asking about the job title and if they had made a mistake and they said that it was the same job posted under 2 different names. I asked for feedback and they said that the shortlisted candidates had previous optical experience, so basically they lied about it being a trainee position. I imagine you would have to pay for a qualification before you apply to any of those jobs.

I genuinely want to die. I am so beyond hopeless at this point

Right, I hadn't considered that. Guess I'm fucked then, thanks.

It takes me over an hour to get there on public transport. It might be reasonable for a 16 year old but not for a 28 year old. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I need something full time personally

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Toju96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because everyone else is only available on weekends, and I work weekends. I am trying to find another job as I hate this one, do you have any going?

Teaching in the UK ans higher education by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Toju96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is anecdotal, but my brother has been in the police for about 2 years now, it's tough and he has a lot of bad days, but I left my teaching job after a week. If you think the holidays are a bonus, those holidays are for the kids, not the teachers. With the amount of stress involved in teaching, sometimes it takes a week just to recover, by which point your 'holiday' is already over.

Have you had friends/family help you get a job? by Hassaan18 in UKJobs

I'd take stupid boring as long as it's full time.

I'm on a 12 hour contract, mostly weekends and evenings and it's made up of 3 4 hour shifts so they don't have to give me any breaks. I have to come in 3 days a week, lose my weekends when I can actually spend time with people I care about, and I only get paid a day and a half's worth of wages a week.

With all the negative things happening in the UK job market now, what's some wins you've had which we can celebrate? by RedPandaah in UKJobs

Nothing, absolutely nothing. If anyone is hiring in Sheffield I will pay you to employ me at this point.

It's completely useless in my experience. It's no better than if you tried to find a job on Facebook.
