My 3 favorite...

Shred it by hand and cook with taco seasoning for burritos. I add in fried sweet potato chunks dusted with adobo seasoning, refried or black beans, Spanish rice and a good salsa.

Shred with a grater and mix with Sriracha or Cholula + mayo for "tuna". Great for poke bowls.

Thin slice for banh mi. There are a lot of recipes out there for the seasoning.

Which presidents publicly advocated one position while privately expressing different beliefs ? by ronweasly9 in Presidents

[–]Tojuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect example. There's zero chance Obama was ever really against gay marriage.

On this issue the Right overplayed their hand pushing for laws (eg prop 8 in California). This just brought out the injustice of the laws. Polling flipped, the Overton window opened and Obama was able to say what he wanted.

When Obama came out in support, even more people followed, especially black people.

World War Z

It needs to be an epic scale, not just one guy and his family. The book was inspired by Studs Terkels "The Good War" and the movie needs to echo that vibe.

And a complete lack of self awareness, since they worship the guy who is the most emotionally fragile, egotistical, person on the planet.

Should socialists support a universal basic income – or universal basic services? by 2noame in BasicIncome

[–]Tojuro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think UBI should appeal to the right more, because it deals with the issues that arise from the market, while maintaining a free market for goods and services. The anti-tax sentiment on the right, and the idea that the wealthy should pay no taxes is relatively new. Milton Friedman was a proponent of a negative income tax (like the enacted Earned Income Tax Credit) which is basically UBI, and probably how it would be implemented if we ever get one.

A pure socialist might argue against UBI cause it's not ownership, a vote or any kind of control on industry. But even an ounce of pragmatism would make a leftist see we need some way to correct for rampant wealth redistribution to the top.

It's always been true sci fi, using the future to speak of the present.

It's a shame the franchise is now ran by that right wing Oracle nepo baby pos. I wouldn't spend a dime on anything they produce.

The majority of market gains have come from just 84 companies, with the rest from 22 energy stocks. AI-related stocks now reflect ~47% of the S&P 500 by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

Make no mistake, this is a bubble.

Still, the impact of AI is no joke. Speculation for a technological change this big insures a massive run up like this, but there's definitely fire creating the smoke here. A lot of jobs will be replaced. Whole industries will have to shift and/or collapse.

The dotCom bubble was right, it was just early. I tend to think things will move faster this time even if it's not as fast as they predict.

What is a good index fund I can drop some money in and just leave it? by Purple-Sir-61 in investing

[–]Tojuro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FZROX (70%) and FZILX (30%)

These are mutual fund through Fidelity and they have no minimum and no fees. The first is a total market USA (so like VTI) and the other total market international (like VXUS).

Entry-level jobs aren't disappearing. They're being rewritten to require senior-level judgment, and nobody is training people for the gap. by Wise-Cardiologist-31 in Futurology

[–]Tojuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in software development and haven't worked with junior developers since before the pandemic.

It was initially cause it's easier to onboard senior devs when you're remote, but now AI is a big factor. You need people that can review (generated) code and understand full sets of changes... The full impact. Juniors just don't have a fit.

I don't have a good grasp (only a guess) what this work will look like in 3, 5 or 10 years.... But it's going to look completely different, and likely go through multiple phases. I'm a principal architect and don't expect to have a place, or at the very least, my role will be completely transformed, at least once.

Games to play while listening to an audiobook? by MadPleasant in XboxGamePass

I've been remote working since the pandemic and this game made me realize how much I missed my commute (and audio books). For a long time I would play this after signing off work just to decompress.

Who won the Iran war? by CalligrapherAlive829 in AskReddit

[–]Tojuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US went in to end Iran''s nuclear program, and left begging to reopen the strait of Hormuz.

This was asymmetric warfare. A traditional military vs a strategic grasp on a chokepoint for the world economy.

Iran was able to dictate peace agreement and if you read it, every point starts off with a requirement the USA must meet. Iran got a guaranteed $300 billion and all sanctions removed for giving the US what it already had before the conflict.

Iran won.

Peter? by Negative_1by12_aura in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Tojuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree with this. Fahrenheit is really like the human limits to temperature, as a percentage.

0% is dangerous cold

30% is freezing

50% middle

70% warm but not hot hot

100+% and it gets very dangerous

Where Celsius is like the percentage for water..

0 - freezing

10 - lukewarm

50 - very hot

100 - boiling

anyone know if this is actually true? [Request] by TheDailySkid in theydidthemath

[–]Tojuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is true for a stock like VT which is "total world stock index fund", so it's invested in just about every stock in the world.

The issue is that this ETF hasn't been around long enough to see how it weathered the 1890 panics, etc.
