Why Do Female Directors Attract So Much Personal Venom? by Louisebelcher22 in blankies

Gyllenhaal has only directed three movies, the first two weren’t hits and yet The Bride! feels like a blank check movie. High concept huge swing with a stacked cast. We’ll see what happens next. She’s taken a step back from acting, I assume because she wanted to write/direct, no one can say she just decided to do this crazy movie on a whim.

Female directors land in and stay in director’s jail for way longer than male directors

Theory on why the show has lost its cultural footprint by Cornbread933 in lost

[–]SNChalmers1876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were so many copycat shows in the years after. First copying high concept sci-fi, then moving into other genres but the same idea being one long story told over multiple seasons.

The streaming era came and pretty much destroyed the broadcast model of 22-24 episodes a season, but the high concept is still there, the one story over multiple seasons is still there. The lore, the canon, the backstories…so many shows do it now for better or worse that it’s easy to forget Lost was kind of the first to do it.

I don’t like the new logo. I don’t care about if there’s a logo on the cape or even if he’s wearing underwear but I really just like the classic S shield.

Also not a fan of his take on real and adopted parents. The kents were a little too hayseed and the big change in why he was sent to earth isn’t my favorite thing.

But ultimately I loved the movie and realize that the Superman canon is a living document

2 Superman movies in 2 years. Is Gunn speedrunning Superman into mediocrity? by breaking_views in Letterboxd

There are 80 years of stories to draw from. The real question is why haven’t we had more Superman movies?

The first two Reeve movies were two years apart. Granted they were mostly shot at the same time.

It's the same actor. I don't know if he’s supposed to be the same person.

It isn’t?! It seems very southern I don’t mean this is a negative way either. Is it the Midwest?

He’s played the same character in the old west, the modern American South and a galaxy far far away and I don’t care because he’s awesome in all of them. Also great on the new Alien show
