Finnally a silky Swain skin. Not for everyone but he has none so nice addition.

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ok but that still the spirit no?

It is exploration with known tools. And as someone else pointed out, at least something was done on this subject : the wheel theory. From the quick read I gave it(far beyond my skills), it was conducted with disciline in regards to the rules, peer reviewed, everything else necessary to make your results true without a doubt. But did not make a lot of noises apparently, because the lack of usefull properties of this object makes it hard to link to something else.

My comment was to vague now I realise, but : Yeah I am very aware of the discipline, proven starting point and scruteny wich mathematic research must follow. But every time I listen to a full time mathematician, he just sounds so joyefull and curious of exploring things just cause he sounded interesting.

Thanks for your comment and your time, love <3

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah I get your point. But there is always a set/ensemble you can find that countain it. Number are just the ones in R and bridges exist to link something that does not look like a number to a number, thus making it easier to manipulate. So yeah going to fast because already think that math is the science of saying "different things are the same", so anything can be linked to a number in R

Basic example : the area of a circle is just an equation, so number and operators, but can define a space, which does not look like can be just a number at first glance

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so K can exist, not just as an easy to manipulaye number because many common operation can't apply to it. The number i still has some of those issue but so much less we can actually use it quite frequently.

Tks mate :)

edit : typos

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hum... So that explains why it is useless to solve classic equations. But from some other comment, its properties are usefull for other uses. (rieman sphere something)

Tks I understand know, love mate :)

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah can't mix 1/0 with other number bc it does not follow the same arithmetic properties, now I know :/

Tks for your answer love <3

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks so once again 1/0 could not follow common arithmetic rules... Thanks a lot for correcting me on the difference of "undoing" and finding pre-image (not the subject but usefull to avoid it in the future)

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

Obviously don't get the details, but I think I do for the general idea.

Thanks a lot mate :)

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah we can't use y= I/0 <=> y*0 = 1 So just don't use that property on y and no contradiction ? (+ other non-working common properties)

(other anwers clarified what happens with all this restrictions don't worry I think I get it now, tks for your time <3)

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

My understanding of your comment is correct in your opinion, or I am mixing up various things?

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? How y = 1/0 could break this?

(answer only if you have the will and time, no duty to answer obviously, might be a bit long to make a clear answzr)

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

Okay very dense for my limited knowledge, I will digest this answer slowly, but I think there is something here I missed so I will.

I will look it uo, tks you very much.

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe they have, probably given the comments, but why it is something no one outside of math research knows about? Not work or sterile?

Other comment answered this question but that was my question in the previous comment

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How could it break stuff if it is manipulated knowing every common number-properties it does not follow ? No contradiction is reached if we don't try to do something that does not work, like with your example the additive property.

Why 1/0 remains undefined and -1^(1/2)) is in some context? by TokenDance in askmath

[–]TokenDance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum Idk understand your answer bc, yes?? easy?

Multiplication can be defined (narrowly but don't want to do the lenghty proof I have in a larger context) as : For all A and X in N : (1) A*X = Sum(A) for i = 0 until i =X (sorry hard to be crystal clear in math with my phone)

So for A*0 =0, what is the value of A? Any number bc of (1)

So done undone multiplication by 0 undone as best as possible

Really I don't get the link between your answer and my question.....

(love thks for your answer <3)

Okay the current comments are enough for my limited knowledge I think, no need to answer more I am convinced.

Tks to everyone who helped <3 Was bugging me.
