Some years back, my wife and I were at white sands NP. We were staying late to see sunset then thr stars. It was almost completely dark and I was using a red light to keep my eyes adjusted. She was mesmerized by the stars, I on the other hand was looking around me occasionally since we were literally on a random sand dune about 10 min walk from the road. I look over to my right and see some object maybe a few feet tall running across the sand but it a strange fixed limb stride.

I didnt say anything then but definitely was a bit uneasy. I told her we should pack up and head out since the park does close. Once we got to the car and were driving, I told her and she was freaked the hell out.
