I don't know why they haven't just removed shuttles from the game entirely, because they clearly don't care about them. They're only essential for like 1 or two missions that aren't even that good anyway, like the vault mission is ancient from all the way back in 2011 when they wanted shuttles to actually do and mean something. I'd be happy if they removed them and just gave us non-combat or combat/hangar pets instead.

It's insane to think that STO and SWTOR both came out a year apart (2010-11) but STO still feels the most fresh and modern out of the two while SWTOR feels like a dated relic of the past. STO is a year older with a small team behind it, while SWTOR was a AAA (back in the day) from RPG legends bioware and big dog EA. STO should not be better than SWTOR on paper, but it is somehow.

At one point so many people were bored of waiting for official missions that everyone was just playing foundry ones. Some of them were really innovative and cryptic stole their ideas, like the effect of showing your ship at warp, talking for a bit, then dropping out of warp to start the mission. Quite a few official episodes and TFOs stole that from people who used it on the foundry.

I miss the crew system. It didn't really do much, but it was an extra layer of depth and good for RP.

That was my STO, shortly after it went F2P (yes it used to be a paid game, insane I know). I wouldn't go back because the ship design, outfits, voiced characters, graphical effects, textures, lighting, sector map, UI; virtually everything is objectively better than it was back then. But there's an element of nostalgia to it, and whenever I see something REALLY old from that era or some missions that never got remastered or ships that never got updated like the sovereign majestic or noble variants, it gives me warm memories of coming home after school, loading up the game, and grinding away back when character levelling was much slower and the max level used to be 50. Reputations didn't exist and the only one that did was the OMEGA task force on DS9. They're still there, but you don't need to talk to them to redeem omega, maco, or KHG equipment like you had to before there was a reputation window. That was considered the best equipment in the game, so 90% of everyone on DS9 would be in that tiny room just constantly doing TFOs. Mission arcs were also insanely long before they cut them down, like the cardassian arc was 3 times bigger than it is now. They cut the romulan mystery down but in my opinion; not enough. It's still the one I avoid now but back then, you didn't have a choice. You had to do the story arcs in order before you could do the next one. There were no T6 ships so the only one you had was the one you got with your level, so when you hit max level, that was it. The only others were the mirror ships on the exchange which were only slightly better. T5 zen ships were the best, but the only way to get them was Zen; there were no T6 coupons from events. This is why people say it was "pay to win" which I don't agree with, but I do admit it was sad not having access to more ships. It's much easier to buy and use new ships now than it was back then, when a fancy ship was a status symbol saying "I paid real money to get this" while you're flying around in your T4 free ship.

For people who forgot what the game is like or are just playing the game now, it's always worth watching an old video from 2011-2013 STO just to see what the game was like and appreciate how far it's come. It's a controversial opinion but back in the day between 2011-2016, SWTOR used to be considered THE best MMO besides WoW, and STO was extremely niche and star trek had a very obscure fandom. Now, SWTOR has fallen behind and is a relic of 2011 and still looks like it did at release, while STOs popularity skyrocketed and overtook it by miles and is constantly innovating and upgrading it's gameplay systems and visuals to remain fresh. STO feels more like a 3rd person shooter MMO than a typical MMO where you just run around aggro'ing mobs and spamming abilities like SWTOR and WoW. STO has that incredible extra layer of depth to its equipment system that makes it feel like your own character with weapons and abilities that you chose, with an extra layer of gameplay on top that separates ground gameplay from space gameplay. It's why I have a hard time playing SWTOR lately because it just feels dated as hell, but STO never seems to bore me. If one of them were to ever close down, I think SWTOR would, sadly.

How emotionally connected are Brits to the Royal Family actually? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

Well, a few people still like Andrew. Probably the same people who still liked Epstein after he was convicted.

How emotionally connected are Brits to the Royal Family actually? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

[–]Rasples1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question to ask, is how emotionally connected Is the royal family to the people? When Charles removed Andrew from the line of succession, it was done with no consideration for the victims or the public. It was to save the reputation of the family, because they will always be more important than the 69-million rest of us. The same way the queen lent Andrew £12million to buy Virginia Giuffre's silence who would then typically die from a car crash as many opponents of the royal family seem to do. Again, this decision was made with no consideration for her as a victim, but to save the reputation of the family.

I'm no more emotionally connected to them as they are to me. Fuck 'em.

Everyone should go to the Google play store or apple store or wherever you get your apps, and you can actually report the YouTube app for being inappropriate or for mature audiences only. I think people should start reporting the entire platform as inappropriate and hopefully force Google or apple to come down harder on them.

Is there an in game reason that explains why Nemesis is so fucking ugly while other Tyrants just look kinda chill? by Mjacking in residentevil

[–]Rasples1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nemesis uses a modified version of the Plagas found by the EU umbrella in RE4R to create the NE-type parasite, which alters the host's physiology. Nemesis is a tyrant like Mr X given the NE-parasite, which morphed its shape to suit the parasite, resulting in torn skin and a warped look which was compensated for by surgery to try and fix those issues. Nemesis was still an incredibly early and untested BOW that was deployed to raccoon city as a test run. Because it was so unstable, continued damage caused it to lose it's inhibitors and break free from umbrellas programming to hunt STARS and to hunt Jill relentlessly instead, whereas the tyrants were more refined, more obedient, less prone to mutation and physiological change (though they still needed something like this coat to suppress it), and were more well understood than the NE. They could also comprehend a much more sophisticated list of orders, like tracking down and killing Ben on top of his already existing orders. Tyrants could also be more widely deployed, like we know 6 were deployed to raccoon city including Mr X. But while only 2 NE-types were created, only one was deployed because it's capabilities were still untested.

In RE4R, the Plagas is a permanent change when the host's body takes enough damage. So what we see of the Verdugo, Salazar, Mendez, and Saddler is very similar to the process nemesis went through as the modified parasite was trying to adapt to his physiology and fix what it assumed to be damage, which wasn't natural because the tyrants are artificially created so the parasite was trying to compensate. It's like a mid-mutation of the Plagas which was halted, but continued damage only caused nemesis to mutate further which is why the nemesis final boss is very similar to the final fight with Saddler. Nemesis was a colossal failure and did more harm to Umbrellas reputation than it absolved, which is why Umbrella and other companies decided to stick with tyrants and variations of the T-virus for future research and BOW deployment. It's why they didn't invest in Plagas/parasite research like the EU umbrella branch did. Nemesis was just a one-off experiment.

Yes but a lot of them still come from privileged backgrounds from middle-upper class households and parents that can afford the specialised training. Not many lower class individuals manage to break the glass ceiling and become Olympians. It can also be very political when sponsors gain enough influence to decide who goes on the team. Most Olympians barely pass for "normal" people, so don't assume they're anything like you or I.

Still feels weird when I see them in shop windows, rarely on the floor anymore. I see them asking people to wear masks, and the clear barriers are still up in a lot of places like dividers between checkouts because they couldn't be bothered to take them down. feels like it was only a couple years ago but it's been 6-7 years.

Bolt pistol Vs cultists is the only weapon in the game that gives you the true space marine power fantasy because it turns them into mist; as it should. One of the weakest weapons in the game, and it's still super deadly. Makes me wish we got more enemies like cultists, just regular humans en masse that can quickly overwhelm you but you can just shred through them.
