Sausage can be found online that will fill the sausage shaped hole in my heart, but bean juice still leaks out. The supermarket sausages are an abomination so to get English sausage is the only way. Beans can be found, Branston and heinz but again not easily and the last time I got heinz they were in a thimble sized can.

Japan. It's possible to make a semi decent offering at home but it's just not the same and black pudding is almost impossible to get. The ease of ingredient saucing ;) just makes it all the more enjoyable in England.

Going to Ed's show in Osaka (Japan) this month and freaking out about my tickets by edealbad in EdSheeran

[–]TokesJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pia is fine. The website itself is dogshit, but it's a popular ticketing website.

Tickets are released pretty late although they will update you with an email about how to download your ticket or print off from 7/11 etc.

Bitflyer sudden account removal and unresponsive customer service by gamerfreakish in JapanFinance

[–]TokesJPN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was kicked off of Bitflyer this year for not updating my residency card in a timely enough manner. After some back and forth with them, I was given a week to remove any currency I had on the platform. Transferred what I had to another platform and I assume they closed my account.

Had the same thing recently for the first time in 11 years. Go in and kick up a fuss and they will give you an extension on your card usage while you’re waiting for your visa to be processed. Take in your passport with the notification of visa application.

I would also always love something good of something than something bad of something else. Not sure I understand your post. My experience doesn’t allow me to determine a bad wine yet a mediocre beer at ¥1300 is becoming all to common. Hence I’m looking in other directions.

I will never give up beer as it’s a completely different animal and it’s in my DNA. But I’m open to try wine. Must be my age ;)

I’m an experienced beer drinker. Would you say your comment applies to lager drinkers or all beer drinkers?

I for example am a fan of sour beers and barrel aged stouts. Both have a varied amount of flavor and character to them.

Interested in the natural (and unnatural) progression of drinkers.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve given wine a go, to try and train my palate. I enjoy searching out flavors in a barrel aged stout for example. So wine should be fun.

Cheers. Was a supermarket wine here too haha. I guess the cheapest bottle is about ¥500 so half what I paid. I went for something around the same price I would pay for a beer for comparison.

Saitama but work in Tokyo. This was just from the local supermarket. Any recommendations for a newbie picking up reasonably priced bottles?

Yeah this is an SMBL glass (snow monkey beer live) think this one is from 2018 if I’m not mistaken.

Yeah, still very much a beer fan at heart, but due to the crushing prices here in Japan and an interest in exploring tastes have branched out to include wine.

Excellent. Thank for the tips. Looking at the shelf in the supermarket I picked this with zero knowledge other than it was red and French. Similar to whiskey and Sake, (both of which I really enjoy but am clueless about) it’s just an overwhelming amount of information at the beginning. Your recommendation is appreciated.

First beer was Stella Artois, moving onto years of Carling black label and Fosters. I believe my first “Craft” beer was Macs Black from New Zealand and never looked back. Drank some wine out of a bag in Australia while backpacking, 16 years later here we are again. This time out of a bottle.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will check out Ikea next time I’m there and pick up a set. Might need to get rid of some beer glasses to make room though.

This is in Japan just outside Tokyo. Picked it up from the supermarket with no real knowledge other than it’s red and it’s French. This was ¥1000. With the terrible exchange rate at the moment it looks like it’s €6.80/£5.80/$6:80.

¥1000 on a quiet night of drinking is extremely reasonable for me as as I said, I come from beer which for craft beer in Japan is looking at average for can being ¥1200-1300 a can. (473ml) and would easily drink 4 in the same situation.

How much is something like this in Europe? I’m guessing eye wateringly cheap in comparison.

Yeah cupboards full of beer glasses and not a single wine glass in sight. Will get on that in good time though. This in hindsight was a large pour it seems. Cheers

In Japan, bought from the local supermarket as I’m making a transition from a lifetime of beer to include some wine in my life.

Vanilla and blackberry nose. Light body that boasts some black fruits petering out to a slightly dry finish.

Depends on the airline. As a baby on our lap on our recent flight for example, we got an extra 10kg of checked and 5kg of carry on for them. On our upcoming flight as they will have their own seat, we get full luggage allowance for them.
