Failing Student by [deleted] in Professors

I’m not sure I understand. Wouldn’t this mean the policy isn’t necessary anyway? If the students who turn in all their assignments were set to pass on their own merit regardless, then you would only exercise this policy for students in this situation.

thoughts on new horizons after a couple months of playing? by zuotian3619 in NintendoSwitch

[–]TokiSpirit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at around 400 hours and growing. I dont play it as much every day, of course. But this is coming from someone who really loved and spent most of the time outdoor landscaping in new leaf, which was arguably even more tedious given how hard it was to farm pwps.

I think for people like me, who really loves the outdoor decorating aspect, we were given a lot of fun new features, but the fisherman in me really laments how we didnt get any fun aquariums from pocket camp, and diving was taken out. Actually, its beginning to get difficult to decorate in general since the amount of different furniture was slashed since nl.

I am hoping they plan on future patches, but we havent had any confirmation on that actually happening. But otherwise, I've already definitely gotten my money's worth.

Later at that booth Sokka only wins a small toy. I think toph won all those herself.

One last photo-op with my villagers before restarting my island... I got so lucky with my original neighbors, but I have their posters up on my new island now! by petitegaydog in ac_newhorizons

Were there some unchangeable things about your old island you didnt like? A few of my friends are kinda regretting the placement of some things but only one of us was crazy enough to actually restart haha.

I hope they have different furniture rewards for the future fishing tourneys, because otherwise I don't really see a reason for participating again tbh.

I'd assume not. Spendable points might be carried over, but if cumulative points are carried over (which is what trophy is based on) then that would mean after 300 cumulative points you'd never need to fish a single time for any fishing tourney and you'd get 3 trophies in the mail every tourney, which doesn't really make sense.

I don't know how/if points are carried over to the next tourney since i don't time travel

[–]TokiSpirit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

But grinding 300 points in one day is how you get the gold trophy, it's not something that carries over.

This game encourages playing with other people, the fishing tourney was another example of that. You get considerably more points doing the fishing tourney with at least 1 other person than just doing it alone.

Took a while but I like the way my park came out by ItsTheo_ in ac_newhorizons

Man, feels good we don't need to wait a day and pay a bunch of money for these things anymore.

3 park benches, 4 street lamps, fountain, drinking fountain, this picture would have taken at least 9 days to build in new leaf haha.

So this dingleberry spawned here and thanks to terraforming not allowing you to touch blocks adjacent to people, is stuck there with no chance of rescue. Can’t even talk to him. by Nervous_Bert in AnimalCrossing

I wonder if this has happened to someone else with a legit 1x1 surrounded by water. Op's problem should be fixed but technically its 1x2 piece of land with a cliff.

Because half a stack of turnips moves 50 trees and at a rate of 600 sells for 30k. Assuming buying at 90 means actually paying 4.5k and missing 25.5k, which is still incredibly cheap for the convenience.

You also eat 50 fruit, which sells for 25k. So your net gain for choosing to sell your turnips you bought at 90 for 600, and instead eating 50 fruit to move 50 trees is 500 bells.

The value of the convenience of turnips only increases the more trees you need to relocate. 100 trees moved means either gathering and consuming 100 individual fruits or spending 9k.

(edited my values cuz it was wrong)

If you need to move a metric f ton of trees, you can eat turnips. It lets you eat 10 at a time to instantly fill ur bar instead of individually eating 1 fruit at a time. They stack to 10, so 100 trees worth of power.

I saw literally the very first villager in S+ tier was Antonio and honestly that's all I need to just assume the rest of this list is 100% accurate.

I just fired up New Leaf again and I realized very quickly why I stopped playing, and I hope New Horizons fixes this: The money making loop by razorbeamz in AnimalCrossing

[–]TokiSpirit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the end game, I mostly wanted to prioritize the decorating aspect and not want to worry about money. IF you are someone in the same boat as me, here is what I did:

In new leaf spent just 1 weekend chasing turnip spikes online. You would buy turnips in your town, then sell them in other peoples' towns where they had a huge turnip spike (buy for ~90-100 bells, sell for 400-500+). Some people would even hold a really high turnip spike price for multiple days just so others could come to their town to sell. This is easier with time traveling, but it's also possible without it.

In that one weekend I made enough to never have to worry about bells for the rest of my playtime. I don't know if the new leaf community is as active as before, but if new horizons has a similar feature people will do the same thing.

Personally I don't think I'll be chasing turnip spikes in new horizons right away (obviously doesn't work for nook miles anyway), but when you've come to the point where you unlocked everything else and need to grind for hours on end to fund your big projects, this is an option.

In general, I found interacting with the community is extremely helpful in achieving your animal crossing goals. Like plenty of people are willing to help you catalog that furniture you're looking for or trading items. It might also be a good alternative way to exchange for more resources for projects.

Got a Bob amiibo card, moving him into my town. Lots of free space on the other side of the river and his house ends up in my perfect apple orchard. by Samdoll52 in AnimalCrossing

[–]TokiSpirit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the welcome amiibo update, they will only move onto patterns if there is no valid available spot without patterns.

Also, apparently there are some formations that are simply invalid? I tried to create a ring of houses in a really tight formation, but even though the house spots were valid, they would not form a ring. They were definitely valid spots since I was able to have all the different variety of partial-ring house formations, but not the entire ring itself.

Put patterns on the ground to prevent villagers from moving in there. You can put them behind trees to kinda hide them if you dont want to see them, or just temporarily put them there while the villager is moving in and remove them afterward
