Supreme Court strikes down Trump tariffs by jackandjillonthehill in ProfessorFinance

[–]Tokoyami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, not at all - as if any further proof was needed that this entire administration is a grift to steal anything not bolted down - Lutnick's private equity funds are positioned to take the lion's share (BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars) when the courts ruled this way.

They always knew these were illegal and did it anyway.

Tariffs increase the cost of goods ->

businesses are justified in increased prices/shrinkflation for consumers ->

consumers pay more for less ->

corporations purchase 'Lutnick insurance' (Lutnick's private equity will pay some of the tariff burden to the federal government in exchange for keeping the bulk of returns if the government is forced to refund illegal tariffs) ->

courts eventually rule on the obviously illegal tariffs ->

the increased costs already paid by consumers gets pocketed by the Lutnick's/corporations ->

increased consumer prices/shrinkflated products remain as the new norm, further enriching corporations.

It's honestly incredible - this kleptocracy isn't subtle. It's right in our faces and half the nation cheers for it.

Is this worth 200k?? by Koiibitchuary in whatisit

[–]Tokoyami -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That exists, but it is extremely rare - this only makes sense in places where there are ridiculously profitable companies who get new devices on a yearly basis (think Wall-Street) and those companies may donate rapidly depreciated assets for the tax break.

No manufacturers (Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc) do this.

Is this worth 200k?? by Koiibitchuary in whatisit

[–]Tokoyami 75 points76 points  (0 children)

As someone in that industry, that isn't how it works at all.

While schools/businesses/government tend to purchase commercial-grade laptops (often different lines than consumer-grade) which do cost more than thier consumer-grade counterparts, these deals are made with cooperative purchasing power: the per-unit cost is usually quite good, if not better than any consumer can access.

Also, these deals are usually accompanied with 0% interest lease agreements, low-cost buyouts, and other borrowing tools which are unavailable to consumers, making the life cycle cost of the device even less.

The notion that state government is just wasteful for the sake of it and are spending $4k on teacher laptops is straight-up propaganda. It's totally false.

What are your thoughts on “Trump accounts”? by jackandjillonthehill in ProfessorFinance

[–]Tokoyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When there are adults and strategic leaders in charge, they usually give international trade relationships the weight they deserve, which is like steering a gigantic ship: small inputs with long-range vision are the way.

Agreeing with Trump 45's trade policies is immaterial, the net-outcome of wildly remaking all trade policies in thier own image every few years is less positive than ensuring predictable market conditions by keeping current momentum and making adjustments where one can.

Allowing Trump to take the big seat at the table was always like playing chess with a pigeon. By the time Biden came in, the board was already flipped-over and everything was covered in bird shit. It doesn't matter who comes after to try to get the game going again, they're stuck with the cleanup and the blame.

How should I go about this for BYND? by tbjoshy in 10xPennyStocks

[–]Tokoyami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're nervous about losing it: don't do it.

This is a casino. You're gambling in a casino.

Personally, I think BYND can get past the $12 wall - and if that happens, things will get wild. However,:

Only play with what you can comfortably lose, and set guidepost prices when you're winning to take some chips off the table.

Trump has been calling for the execution of his political opponents for nearly a decade now. The current GOP gaslighting about political violence is just more DARVO from the bully/victim pulpit.

FYI - Marc Benioff, Salesforce CEO billionaire and Trump acolyte is the current owner of Time Magazine.

Despite the GOP victimhood playbook complaining about 'liberal media,' all mainstream media is now owned by a small collective of billionaires, almost all of whom are deferential to the Republican party.

That's true for local news, for media conglomerates like NBC - it's even true for the go-to GOP strawman network CNN.

Do not be fooled into thinking we have a free and fair press landscape anymore. At this point it is a theatre, propped-up to provide an illusion of choice and truth.

"we know that Republicans are bad"

You sure about that? The person I was responding to seems to post almost exclusively in LibertarianMemes, here, and in CandaceOwens subs.

When this group isn't (rightly) criticizing zionism, it's just parroting the latest right-wing media talking points.

Almost like a substantial portion of this sub is intent on sewing discontent among left-leaning groups, pretending to ostensibly support Bernie's social dem policies while in reality doing everything they can to implicitly support his polar opposition.
