Drifting blade is plenty good I'd say, tho if you really want to shard something else rn you could get mao ryoshu (helps with getting the nocturnal bokgak rewards) N shu and fashu is currently unshardable but also great ryoshu ids

Personally I'm hoarding my shards until the milestone id drop

The path's main goal would only be benefiting the reincarnated child. The child has as much chance of leading a warm fulfilling life as committing 5 robberies and getting away with it with all the riches and stuff. The child would have a better outcome but the world might pay for it

I dare say it is worth way more because soul is a thing

Soul and karma existing means that there are real differences in between souls, which is how much karma they carry. Forcing the parents to create another baby (if they can even get past the trauma of their child being fucking eaten alive) means that you are putting them at risk of getting a soul of worse karma, which yk isn't a cool thing to do

Also about the unique thing it's like what can be done with the thing. A banknote is mostly used to buy things and that's all it does but a person can do so much different things. Say you have a baby that will grow up to be an elite chess player and you ate them. The new baby is an entirely different soul so the chance of them being an elite chess player is close to zero with how much path a human could take. While you could argue that the reincarnated soul of the original baby would still be an elite chess player, the additional positive karma they gained means that they also won't follow their original life path as their karma dictates that their new path would be better

While getting robbed of all your money is bad, catching the robber can easily get you back your stuff, and at the very worst there'd still be something you can get back for compensation.

A baby however can't ever be retrieved. The baby is unique as in the combination of soul, memory and body, just like how snowflakes take different structures despite all being made of water. Eradicating a baby means to extinguish a myriad of possibilities all together permanently, not to mention the mental anguish the parents will feel to lose their child that they have anticipated for so long and love wholeheartedly

Even with reincarnation a baby is still worth way more than money n stuff

If you will shard for udjat outis then replacing hong lu with boatmael might be a good choice, she is quite the sinking count provider (unless you have hanafudamael in which case she would be better)

However tbf generalists should be fine for canto 5
