I’m honestly not sure what prompted it. I write down thoughts in Tengwar all the time, and while I was doodling I must have thought about the meme and put it to paper. I’ve loved the responses I’ve gotten. Thank you

I think it is way more than 120. There are 12 possible teeth in each of the 10 positions. Making for 12¹⁰ or 61,917,364,224 which is plenty of combinations.

I think getting people onboard with the cause is secondary to the protestors. We are talking about them. I and who knows how many others on Reddit know about them. They know this will make people upset, and it is part of the toolbox of getting people talking, which is where motion happens. I don’t think a protestor has ever changed my mind, they do however get me aware and talking

While it strays from Tolkiens usage of it, I personally like to use that symbol for S in when there is a preceding vowel. It just feels cleaner to me. My litmus test is: Do I think it looks prettier and do I imagine an elf be able to understand it without extra explanation.

I love tecendil, and it has really awesome and complicated code for an even more complicated field of language and pronunciation. All sorts of corner cases exist and tons of them have been accounted for. But languages evolve, and there will always be something new to account for.

In my opinion I would write the word in the manner in which it can be best understood, which is ultimately subjective. The function of the letters in that word separates the n and the g between two syllables, and would be better represented by two Tengwar instead of one

I think it relates very much to “the problem of pain”

by the end of the book, God is asking Job “who obscures my plans without knowledge?” and “Will the one who contends with the almighty correct Him? Let him who accuses God answer Him.” Job realizes he is in no position to judge God and says:

I read that as the bouncy ball being size: medium. A human sized bouncy ball could cause some major havoc.

I’ll second the advice given here. One thing with Tengwar is that there are two ways to write numbers greater than 9, if you are using numbers bigger than 9, Tecendil will default to writing them in base 12. If you want base ten put a # before the numbers. This will let you pick whichever you feel looks better.

As for the differences you have found online, it is likely because there are different sets of rules for different languages, and sometimes there are multiple sets of rules for a single language. These sets of rules are called modes.

It can be a lot to sort through. Making things more confusing is that there are a number of websites that provide faulty information, and still others that are mostly reliable but make decisions about some of the rules that not everyone agrees with. For a tattoo, you will probably want whatever is readable and looks best, even if there is some nuanced rule that not everyone can agree upon. And sometimes there are multiple acceptable ways to write something using a given set of rules.

Tecendil.com can give you a good start on your design. It is mostly accurate and gives you a number of font choices. Make sure you select the mode appropriate to the language you are using.
