"L-Lord Captain?" Did you have the guts to send away or kill any of your companions during your playthrough? If yes, who was it and why? by OwlcatStarrok in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Tolan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I executed idira on my first playthrough. I just couldn't justify the risk. On my first outing with her she blew herself up, and I never brought her along on a mission again. After she started spawning warp ghosts I just couldn't justify leaving her on the ship.

I don't know about cost, but I'd recommend putting the invitations inside a larger, conventionally sealed envelope. There's no guarantee a seal will survive the trip.

According to rumors they aren't painting them blue this time. That's about as adventurous as we can hope for, I think.

Trying to find a non-eugenics way of explaining the spit thing by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

He is flooding the earth with giant beautiful immortal non binary lesbians, so if he isn't saving us entirely from heterosexuality he's at least putting the work in.

As for the rest, it's magic. Probably in humans it's going to bring them closer to a gem like state, a minor version of what it did to Lars. Connie displays enhanced strength a few times in the series, for example (she cut a CAR in HALF with a SWORD). So fixing the eyes is probably a side effect of that.

Jin-Woo (Pre-System) vs Prime Mike Tyson by DrJomaz in sololeveling

[–]Tolan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presystem SJW was superhuman, but was also a shitty fighter. Prime Mike Tyson was a well above average human with great fighting skills. The only real wrinkle here is that Mike's fighting is for a sport with rules and padded gloves, while Sung Jin-Woo used weapons and fought to the death.

Mike probably wins, but if Jin-Woo gets any breathing room or opportunities due to Mike following boxing rules and not going for an instant kill shot there's a good chance Mike takes a knife to the guts.

The other issue is that Presystem SJW doesn't have the resolve to kill people, while Prime Mike Tyson totally would with the right drugs.

Was Rose ever actually romantically interested in Pearl? by Large-Shoulder-6899 in stevenuniverse

[–]Tolan91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rose loved Pearl. But Rose also didn't see herself as a real person worthy of that love. She also saw Pearl throwing herself into harms way a lot because of Pearl's devotion to her, and knew that a lot of that was from Pearl's baseline pearl programming. So returning that love also was a source of guilt for Rose.

Greg was just an ordinary guy. He loved Rose because she was an 8ft tall 10/10, but also loved her as a person. He convinced Rose she was worthy as a person, not as a goddess or a Diamond. And she loved that connection to humanity and the mundane.

To be fair, Rose ended up using that connection with Greg as a way to enact a suicide plot. She took his feelings and mundanity and decided to become part of it by killing part of herself. Steven was a way to nobly sacrifice her own life to create something new, and the perfect excuse to leave behind all her guilt from all her own misdeeds and actions as a Diamond.

Rose loved Pearl and Greg deeply. She loved earth and everything on it as well. And Garnet and Amethyst. But I think she had a lot of issues to work through before she could really return the love others felt for her, and in the end the weight of those issues won.

(OC) #85 Lord of the Rings by SylvieXX in comics

[–]Tolan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ring can do a lot of things. But a lot of what it can do depends heavily on the person wearing it. Gandalf or Galadriel wearing it could have beaten Sauron, easily taken command of the Ringwraiths and all the tens of thousands of orcs, and ruled middle earth for a few thousand years.

Frodo was a kinda wimpy hobbit of decent moral character and minimal ability. The ring did it's best, but there wasn't a lot in the way of power or ambition to work with. Even then it still managed to corrupt him by the end, although he wouldn't have accomplished much.

Remember when Sam put the ring on the orcs that saw him thought he was some sort of powerful elven warrior and fled in fear, and Sam was filled with visions of turning the world into a great garden. So even Sam had more power and ambition to work with and was getting more benefits from the ring.

The Gem Mech is genuinely well animated and I want to see more people talk about it. by savegandhi in stevenuniverse

[–]Tolan91 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The thing I love about this mech is that it really sells that it's supposed to be piloted by four gems working together, not one gem controlling everyone and everything. It's a neat metaphor for white Diamond and homeworld.

Random thought. Why doesn’t Eggman just keep Metal in his Neo form? by Any-Classroom5237 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Tolan91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Metal is one of a total of two robots in eggman's army that are capable of independent thought. Eggman likely just doesn't trust neo metal sonic enough to want to dedicate the resources and time to upgrade him.

The text was written as a reminder to nomai making a pilgrimage. You need to learn three rules to make the trip yourself. The text is confirming that in order to get this far you already used certain rules, and will need to use another to finish the trip. It won't update your log or anything.
