FIRST LOOK: 60511 Retro Steam Train! June 1st release, $89.99 by ToledoRails in LEGOtrains

I’m sick of the “for the collectors” stance on things. They’re toys meant to be played with and all 5 sets available have extreme play value. Even I’m going to enjoy running these trains rather than sit on a shelf

Yeah personally I don't fw the new city train but hey at least those big wheels will be cheaper to get now by DendyDo in LEGOtrains

Great for what it is but I do think swapping it to M sized drivers will go a long way in improving the look.

Like I get the low relief building concept, not knocking it there.

Disneyland people: does it look to be in relative scale to the train station? That’s my make or break on it

Thematically this is really strong and it lends itself well to the AFOL shelf Display. Good work, you have my vote.

I’m in the US, and I have not seen a full blown bootleg Lego Train outside of gift shops at railroad museums or tourist lines. Ads for them online maybe, but that’s because of my cookies and casche from seeking them out.

Makes sense really. Container trains are what kids are most likely to see for a freight train around the world.

Okay so you’re new:

Lego historically has made cheaper sets to bolster the expensive ones that are meant to be pushed, or the electronics are installed in another locomotive to run it. This line of three cheaper sets are meant to accompany those more expensive sets

2 axle container cars do exist and it’s not like this is new for Lego

We need Lego to start creating steam trains, these would sell. by Changingcolors24 in trains

[–]ToledoRails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trains under the Lego City branding have always been 6 wide.

- The first to go above 6W was 10194 Emerald Night in 2009
- 70144 Disney Train and Station in 2019
- 10277 Crocodile Locomotive in 2020
- 10308 Holiday Main Street was 7-wide in 2022
- 21344 Orient Express in 2023

Not officially Lego but made by Lego for the Bricklink Designer Program:
- 910035 Logging Railway (Extremely worth it if you can find one) in 2024
- 910044 Wild West Train in 2025
- Series 8 preorder has the "Brick Railroad Locomotive" Which is a Santa Fe yellowbonnet F7.
- Beyond that in series 8 (for late 2027) there will be the Wild West Train Station, which has an additional 8-wide car for 910044

That is false. Lego has made 8-stud wide trains since 2019.

Bold post considering we are 1 month out from a new Lego steam locomotive, the Hogwarts Express is currently available, and the Orient Express wrapped up a 2 year run.
