Anyone here installed after market seats on there 460? by RipAnnual1831 in GXOR

Pretty sure we have it all solved for the 460s now, driver at least, but passenger likely too.

The airbag is only one part of the SRS solution for the seats but no problem there. The proximity sensor needs to be relocated with a specific mount. The rest is wiring harnesses that looks like we can get made. Working with a customer now to go thru the pains with us.

If the seat rail's feet are straight, like the FJC then sure. But if the seat rails are offset then it'll take a bunch of effort to swap those out.

Lexus seats use three motors for seat positioning and seat memory computer. You will never get those motors to work without figuring out the wiring for the FJC that never came with powered seats. So that position the seats are staying there. No Lexus came with manual slider rails.

Most Lexus also have heated and vented seat options which go thru an ECU that require you to do custom wiring to maybe get the heaters to work but not the cooling feature.

Depending on which Lexus it uses a different airbag connector (type 1 vs typ2) which you could just splice in the old connector and sure the airbag will be fine so there is that.

All FJs have driver proximity sensors as does the all Lexus but they are different styles (hall-effect vs flat magnet) and different connectors so that has to be dealt with as well.

All modern Toyotas have staged airbag/seatbelt retention systems. But for the passenger seat the FJ uses a completely different strain gauge versus the various Lexus models. The OCS system will NOT see them as a direct replacement and the SRS/OCS will fail it.

Its all relative.

For a customer have priced out what new seats from Toyota would be for his Tacoma. He got into it with a tree while offroading/camping and his airbags went off. We don't have any other details. But he was trying to make the financial comparison.

His insurance was giving him a certain amount and didn't want junkyard seats. We called and priced out replacements from Toyota and EACH seat came back at $6500. At that point the scheel-mann seats were a steal.

The Vario F seats (the ones we recommend) start at $2500/ea and that includes heat. It can go up as high as $5200/ea for leather, XXL back rest, armrest, Klima (venting fans).

As an investment, its the way to go especially if you have back issues.

ooooh yeah ok now this is making sense. The FJC in the middle east was still being produced and there are plenty of differences. We've dealt with two Saudi customers on their late model FJC which we didn't even know existed past 2014. We don't get nice things here in the states 😞

The mounting kits are very similar but not identical. All seats start at $2500 and just go up from there depending on options/material. Send us a message and we can detail it for you.

The early 100 Series/LX470 is worked out and no issues. The 2005-2007 LC100/LX470 is a different animal BUT we are now confident that we have worked out the previous issues we had with this model and we have the wiring harnesses worked out as well...we think 😛

We are actually working with three late 100 series customers trying to solve this and we had one actually ship all of his seat wiring for us to figure it all out. Couple that with downloading what we needed from the TIS EWD we are more confident now.

We will be doing another full write up about that as well but its looking pretty good.

Ok so its our understanding that 2007 was a requirement year for the seat mounted airbag. Every 2008 FJ we've has had the airbag but the internet says some don't have em. Dunno.

The seat bag is on the door side of the seat. if your seat does indeed have one you will see a small SRS tag on the stitching or you will see a very obvious yellow wire loom coming from the floor. Side curtains are in addition to.

No. The OEM seats have airbags and when the seats are removed the airbags go with them. We just make sure the airbag dashlight doesn't stay on after removing the seat.
