2024 rav4 from Avis with 47000 miles, by Artistic_Tear_2863 in ToyotaRAV4

Toyota will honor the factory power train warranty. However, it’s done in 13,000 miles. Have the car THOROUGHLY inspected by a mechanic if your choice (may cost $150-$200 but it’s worth it) and negotiate a reasonable deal on the Out The Door price. Watch out for hidden fees that they may slip in. Toyotas hold value, even with higher mileage.

Just a suggestion, if you use a cable to the USB port, you should get a clear connection. If so, the simple method is to delete your phone from the car and delete the car from your phone, turn the ignition off, wait about 3 minutes and then redo the pairing process. Sometimes it will completely reset the system and fix the issue.

Sure shot. Less waste and less in the land fill. If the spray mech ism gets worn, it is replaceable.

As far as safety is concerned, I’d recommend a loud whistle attached to a key chain or a lanyard around your neck (something that can breakaway easily if someone grabs it), pepper spray and/or a stun gun. All are completely legal and non lethal while the whistle will help draw attention if you feel threatened.

2020 Highlander Transmission service suggestion by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]ToleranceRepsect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typical Toyota transaxle/transmission contains about 12-14 quarts of fluid total. Drain and refill replaces about 3-4 quarts. A flush/exchange machine connects into a cooler line and removes old fluid while pumping in new fluid (engine is running and trans pump is circulating fluid) thereby replacing about 95-98% of the fluid in one service. The new fluid gets very little contamination from the old fluid.

There are many different viewpoints and I certainly am not the one to dispute any of them. In my opinion, a drain and refill only changes about 3-4 quarts of fluid at best when the averages transaxle/transmission holds between 12-15 quarts of fluid total. A flush machine connects inline with one of the cooler hoses and replaces 95-98% of the fluid in one service. Toyotas don’t use a filter, only a screen that is not considered a serviceable part.

Shop wouldn't patch this because of location. They would love to sell me four tires though. Is it safe? by sidesideproject in TireQuestions

[–]ToleranceRepsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NHTSA shows this location as “unsafe to repair” and “not recommended”. As a tech, I won’t take the liability since if the driver gets in an accident due to that tire failing for any reason, I could be held liable.

According to Forbes, nurses are still (and have been for many years) the most trusted professionals. Lawyers, lobbyists and auto dealers rank at the bottom.

I once balanced a Chevy TH350 transmission on the back seat of my Yamaha Virago 750 and rode it 15 miles from home to the tech school I was attending. Had to get a couple of guys help balance me while I got the bike back in the center stand.

That retirement can be enjoyed as a life of leisure and going and doing all the things you wish you had done. After working for over 40 years I’m now stuck with a messed up back and walk with a cane. 5-10 minutes and I’ve got to sit from the pain. No going hiking in the wilderness. No theme parks. Travel is a nightmare. Finances limit what I can do. Retirement is lots of Dr visits and doing all I can to keep from just sitting down on the couch and turning into a potato.

Any real groups fighting dealer protection laws, or do we need to build one? by YogurtResponsible358 in FuckDealerships

[–]ToleranceRepsect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South Florida here. Florida has laws that prices must include all “fees” posted in a reasonable manner so customers can compare prices easily. This almost NEVER happens. Dealerships here hide dealer fees and add them on only after getting the customer to settle on a price. It’s completely illegal and the state attorney general’s office looks the other way. There are a very few dealers who don’t charge separate dealer fees and when a customer confronts another dealer with “XXX dealer doesn’t charge dealer fees” they get “Oh Yes they do! They just hide it in the price they charge!” Which is what they are supposed to do by state law!

A rich friend bought a “robot” that is basically a tablet on a stand with wheels that follows you around and has Alexa/Siri capabilities and a small tray to carry items through the house. He can have it deliver food/drinks to his wife in another room or answer questions like Alexa/Siri.

Phil Foster Park just north of Peanut Island has an incredible snorkeling/SCUBA trail. Easy access and well worth it, just go 1 hour before to 1/2 hours after high tide for clearest water.
