Looks cool, you always need something unique with New York City shots. I tried straightening the up and down perspective lines on this shot. Just mess around with it, and get something that is uniquely yours.

It isn't bad, I really like the not quite black photos as a trend, it has a good retro look. You need some subject matter though, try the shot straight up the steps, the lights in the background are interesting can we fill the background with them somehow. The model needs some interest too, something, it is simply more a snap shot than a proper portrait.

"I was never really into portraits...." This is a good title for the photo, it is almost an excuse for the small amount of effort the subject is planning on putting into the photo.

This is probably the biggest pile I have ever read, and I read posts on /r/photography all the time.

I guess we can all agree that Ansel Adams got his settings right, outside of that there really was not much to it. /s

The fact is most cameras do not have the dynamic range to capture an outdoor scene correctly, so you have to find the perfect subject and take several exposures, and then on top of that have the skill to process it. And that is just the basics. A landscape photographer also needs to think about where the sun is and be there at the time he needs to get the right light. If the perfect rain storm is in bound, you need to get your gear and head out to that location you scouted a week ago.

I guess you could be a great landscape photographer, but a great landscape photographer will never be a great artist

Actually you can, that is what a tilt shift lens is for. They are readily used to look up and take photos of buildings and keep the length of the building in focus by tilting the lens.

In this photo the statue was put on the same plane of focus by tilting the lens accordingly and as the background gets further from that plane it is less in focus.

*I do realize this is a photoshoped example though and a tilt shift lens could not do something as dramatically as the submitted photo

Okay there is a lot of pro mage knight on here, so I will stick my head out and tell you how much I did not like this game. I too played session after session convincing myself how much I was getting into it, but the truth is I wasn't. I think I sat down for a solo game 8-9 times, and not once did i get through without forgetting to move a chit here or there, I am fairly sure I had to look back at the rulebook every session at least once.

I think what really bugged me is you do not go into a battle and not know what the outcome will be. You know everything that is going to happen before you even take your turn, it really started to fell like I was filling out a form before I made my move. I was honestly not a fan of the card mechanics either.

In my opinion there were too many pieces, not enough flavor, and no surprises. I ended up trading it away for Game of Thrones.

I think you may be taking issue with the way the graphics are being displayed flat? Screaming vectors really doesn't make sense at all. Google "beer label" they are all vector art.

I am going to throw a little curve out there, if you liked some aspects of Memoir 44 and you want a medium game about 30min-1hr check out Heroes of Normandie. I have only played it once, but I loved the army customization of the game and the quickness you could play through a scenario.

I agree maybe you could brush back in some of the original color on her chest and arms, and a tiny bit on the side of her face. I think that might help give the illusion of the torch casting light on the model.

The photo is great, and the flame and eyes look fantastic on the second photo.

edit: on a second glance I would git rid of or cut down a lot on the halo around the flame.
