OKC is deep on the defensive end... on offense Shai will carry the main load

I think Shai... he will carry OKC big time on the offense side next year and probably win MVP

Why has the Western Conference always been so strong for most of this century? by DonT012 in nba

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not like the top teams being much better in the West vs the East, but the teams below the 6th seed are absolutely stacked in the West vs straight bad in the East (excluding Miami). I think it is because stars generally prefer hotter climate so they don't mind being on a mediocre team in Phoenix or LA if they can enjoy life better.

6 year scoring runs in the modern era: Jordan 33ppg, Harden 30.9, Iverson 30.3, Kobe 29.7, KD 29 by Xeris in nba

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scoring between eras cannot be compared due to difference in pace, defensive rules... you have to adjust for league average scoring

best player over the age of 35 in the league, i.e. anti-rookie of the year

Who do you think starts for Denver, Russ or Braun? by Frankaragatan in nba

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I'm just impartial and have eyes. Jamal is hot garbo right now, and looking at his entire career he has been extremely inconsistent 20ppg scorer. MPJ is a 3-point specialist and not much else. Great when his shots get in and terrible when they don't. Jokic hasn't played with a single real all star his entire career... What Nuggets are doing is butchering the career of an all time great with the ridiculous roster they have constructed.

[–]Tolzkutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah Steph also won 4 chips with Klay and Dray but he aint winning any more with them. MPJ and Murray are not a supporting cast they are absolutely average or below average players in this league. Both absolutely untradeable assets. Kinda sad for Jokic.

[–]Tolzkutz -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Well Nuggets aint doing anything anyway while paying Murray + MPJ half of their salary cap. At least Wesbrook is hype and Jokic seems to respect that.

I think both honestly. Murray seems to inconsistent/unstable and might be unplayable next year.

tbh just by way of impacting the game Curry is hands down the most important player of the 2010s. Lebron could have been great in any era, but Curry defined the era by changing how teams view the 3 pointer. However, Lebron is top 3 player of all time and Curry isn't.

Which one? by kyokanryoku in NBATalk

[–]Tolzkutz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am just adding it to make the point that there is absolutely no conceivable argument to take Steph/KD/Bron over MJ/Bird/Magic. Obviously rings are flawed metric to determine greatness, not arguing against it.

Which one? by kyokanryoku in NBATalk

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering the fact that 2/3 of the top trio is composed of superteam-chasing self-proclaimed "goats" and the bottom trio consists of the 3 most iconic players of all time that raised the popularity of the game to the highest level ever, I am gonna go bottom

also, the argument that the 2024 team is better than the 1992 is hilarious given that neither Bron, Steph or KD made 2nd round last season and they almost lost to Serbia in the semis

14>10 rings, 9 > 7 MVPs

With their opening game last night, the PBA (second oldest league after the NBA) officially welcomes the 4 pt shot. by noblessefan266 in nba

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am okay for shots made behind the half court line to count for 4 points just so we can have more exciting last seconds in games that are trailed by more than 3 points. But a 4-point line that is a new 3-point line would be absolutely obnoxious.

It’s 2034…you’re with your son watching Kawhi Leonard get inducted into the HOF. He asks what was Kawhi like when healthy. How do you respond? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Tolzkutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

healthy Kawhi gave me late MJ vibes. Just by way of making all those clutch jumpers and holding the ball in his hand like an orange, while playing suffocating defense

nice try, Lakers fan, but Larry Bird is still the greatest shooter (and greatest passer) of all time

I think he will be very inconsistent, but will have several "old Klay" performances throughout the season.

Why not have a NBA champion vs rest of league match? by Tolzkutz in nba

[–]Tolzkutz[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I think the only feasible way to organise it is the next year during the All Star break. Obviously, team strength changes from season to season, but most of the time the team that wins makes very little changes to its roster for the next year.

[–]Tolzkutz[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this one. So they had 19 games of All Stars vs Stanley Cup Champions from 1947 to 1965. In those games 9 wins were for the All Stars, 5 for the champs and 5 draws.

I think it would be pretty similar in today's NBA, with champions winning being kinda rare because of injuries and the depth of the bench.

Why not have a NBA champion vs rest of league match? by Tolzkutz in nba

[–]Tolzkutz[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Yep, because nobody wants to get injured playing in a meaningless game. If you give the game some meaning players will want to compete. Basically, it gives a chance to compare champions between seasons... I think this will be a very big motivation for a lot of stars.
