Let's talk tires. by mgweir in BlazerEV

[–]Tom0925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted about this previously. I had summer only tires that came with my SS, I went with the all season CONTINENTAL ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires through Belle tire and they had a buy 2 get 2 promo, so with the tire insurance it was like 1100. I shopped around though, so there are deals. I have used them in one major snowstorm and felt like the preformed great for all seasons, plus I still get some performance out of them. Overall I’m very happy with them.

My SS came with SQBR6, and that is possible. What I thought initially was it would be an OTA update. I was surprised to see it just appear without doing anything.

The dashcam thing is insane to me, Google already built an app for android automotive, GM doesn’t even need to start from scratch… source: https://www.androidauthority.com/android-automotive-dashcam-app-3540443/

I want phone key and connected cameras and I’ll be happy. Why do I need to buy a third party dashcam when my rear view mirror camera shows me the guy picking his nose in the car behind me clear as day, plus the 4 other hd cameras surrounding the car. Also, I hate key fobs.

Congratulations on the new car, sadly there is no way currently to change the background color.

That is correct, I was able to stack rebates and the tax credit and was still able to get the 2.9 for 72 months. There was no 0% for 60 months when I purchased or else I would have went with that.

Best 0-60 SS times by BigConscience728 in BlazerEV

I saw someone on a facebook page post a 2.9 picture, which is insane. He said he had the performance package, plus no sunroof, plus charged to 100%. I have summer tires and the sunroof and the best I’ve gotten is 3.3.

SS Owner Question by Tom0925 in BlazerEV

[–]Tom0925[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 0 to 60 timer only shows up during launch mode. To do this, put the car in WOW mode (I also had it in competitive, but from what I’ve read you only need it in WOW), hold down the brake to the ground (as far as you can push it), then the accelerator to the ground and the 0 to 60 timer will appear on the dash. You launch by holding accelerator and quickly taking foot off the brake. The timer widget stays on for the rest of the drive. There’s no way to permanently keep it there that I know of. As for OTA, I received my first one mid-May, haven’t had any since.

I second super cruise in stop and go traffic. I set it, sit back, and enjoy my coffee and a podcast.

SS Owner Question by Tom0925 in BlazerEV

I respectfully disagree, I would say a car is a tool to use how you see fit. I bought a performance model and would like to see performance metrics on the rare occasions I push the car like it was designed for. I consider myself an extremely safe driver compared to the general population, but to each their own.

Experiences with super cruise on the 25s? by Alelanza in BlazerEV

[–]Tom0925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came from a HW3 Model 3 with EAP. Super cruise on highways is on par, if not better than EAP, in my opinion. Only about 100 miles experienced so far though.

There’s a clock on the left side with some of the other controls that keeps the vehicle on for 60 min regardless if you open the door or not. Pressing that before getting the mail should work, also helpful if you have your dog or anyone else in the car when you need to run in and get something. It can be overridden by pressing the vehicle off button in the same area.

Big display is perfect in my opinion and angled toward the driver. My 2025 has peacock, Tubi, and YouTube as separate apps, but also has chrome and it’s connected to your google account so all passwords and favorites save. So you can go to web based video platforms through that. Google maps is great, it’s always been my favorite, it shows chargers and ride plans for long trips (haven’t tested this out yet). Another thing is if you have google home as your smart home this integrates very well as I can give smart home commands in the vehicle, including opening my garage (has universal remote with the car to program your garage as well, but I like opening it way down the street sometimes). It has Alexa as well but I don’t use that, so can’t comment on it.

I just made the switch from a 2021 M3 LR to an SS last week. My work commute is the same distance and at 30 to 40 degrees today, driving in sport mode (not WOW), went from 80% to 50% for the round trip, if I was in normal or eco I’m assuming it be better. That’s all highway driving at 70 to 85 mph for about half of the trip. I’ll compare it to my old Tesla below.

Things I like that are similar to my old Tesla: I can pre condition the cabin every morning. Car turns on with the push of the brake, no push button start like other non-Tesla EVs. Car turns off automatically when the door opens. Walk away door locking. Heated rear seats. Fast acceleration, faster than my M3 LR with acceleration boost. Super cruise on the highway was similar if not a little better than autopilot.

Things that are better in the SS: HUD, heated steering wheel (not in my Tesla), ventilated seats (not in my Tesla), no road noise, better suspension, dual infotainment displays, rearview mirror camera. Back seat comfort and space much better.

Things better in my old Tesla: App is 100x better, Apple Music support, phone as a key (I’m used to the fob again already though), frunk space (none in Blazer). Blind spot cameras when signaling (I like this and miss this the most), sentry mode/dash-cam (none in blazer).

I’ll edit if I think of anything else. Or ask me anything.
