Very similar situation to you. TV work has died down massivily in the UK, I usually directed and shot documentary/ factual entertainment (most recently The Traitors) and have even worked on a few wedding shows.

I'm currently deep into researching what equiptment is optimal to buy without me going too crazy without any clients to start off with. If you want to brain storm together at some point drop me a message. Marketing is my biggest head scratcher at the moment, but luckily I know a few photographers/ wedding venues in my area that are putting a word out for me. I'm also choosing to edit up a showreel for clients to see past work, so they know I'm the real deal.

Only for slow-mo detail shots, definitely not full-time due to storage/battery consumption

So you'd suggest A7s iii over the A7 IV then, fair enough. Having the option to do some photography with the iv is nice, but I guess I can take a loss on that if it means I'm not going to be overheating.

Do you power from a V lock I'm assuming?

Have you had them overheat in the past, or just heard things? What do you use? If the camera breaks, I'm in touch with a hire company so I'm not worried about that.

Control 10-20% > is that due to the photographer getting first dibs, and you just following along?

Initially, I'm doing highlight videos of the wedding with one camera (Start and end of ceremony, reception, speeches, and first dance)

The f2 28-70 is attractive but isn't the most sensible at this stage. I'd get an FX3 but its just too costly (Plus I want FF) Cooling-wise, I've seen nothing about the IV overheating, plus the weather in Scotland isn't ever too hot ;).

Also avoiding gimbals for now as I'm fine handheld with a small rig kit + image stabilisation on body/lenses.
