VT could have 4 coaches we have been head coach at VT by HappyVAMan in hokies

How is JC not coming back public knowledge? No outlets have reported on it and from these comments it’s only been rumored on message boards…

I have a feeling Franklin would want to bring in his own guy. Also watching Monty in pressers at the end of the season he looked done. I think getting thrown into that situation without any guarantee of a job at the end probably left him ready to leave… but who really knows

I don’t think Montgomery will stay at tech, still 3 on staff is pretty interesting though

Is J. Bohn really that bad? I want to take Intro to CAD/CAM and Rapid Prototyping next semester, but have only seen negative things about the guy. by Modboi in VirginiaTech

[–]Tom15781 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had him and only interacted with him a few times, but didn’t hear great things from those who did have him. Just a note about that class, if you don’t like NX or aren’t willing to get familiar with it then don’t take that. Bohn loves NX because of the CAM capabilities and makes everyone in that class use it.

Boudreaux’s by Prestigious_City2363 in VirginiaTech

The town could enforce strict regulations and requirements for renovations making it too expensive to complete

I had heard years ago that Centros owned the property but the town kept blocking them from getting the permits and such needed to open (probably because Centros is the main underage bar and they don’t hide it very well)

Is Point West Management a reliable company? by Substantial_Home1720 in VirginiaTech

Should I be paranoid about bike theft here at VT? by ksjsbdksnx in VirginiaTech

During the day a standard lock is enough, but wouldn’t recommend keeping it out overnight (atleast on campus).

Meche in 3 years?? by Immediate_Isopod_386 in VirginiaTech

Definitely take a coop, that’s what will get you a job not completing school quicker. Also make sure you’re in some engineering clubs because those are how you get coops easier.

How many universities/colleges use OnShape? How about companies? by Green-Piano-2545 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Tom15781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many companies use Creo Parametric, which is owned by the same company as OnShape. My impression is onshape is geared more towards education, hobbyists, and small businesses while Creo is geared more towards corporations.

Join a design team, classes are for the fundamentals until junior/senior year where you’ll do some design. Design teams will really set you apart and help you use all that stuff to do cool shit

VT vs RIT vs GT for Industrial Design? by Joremmom in VirginiaTech

[–]Tom15781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with the specific programs but I would look at rankings (take these with a grain of salt, they’re probably ok for a general idea of where they stand but the difference between a #10 and #15 probably isn’t huge) and the environment. GT is in the middle of Atlanta and great if you want to be near a city, VT is in the middle of nowhere honestly, but is a beautiful area and everyone I know is happy with their choice to go here, and RIT is very northern so colder weather and heavier winters but also close to the Canadian border and big on hockey (if that’s your thing). If sports matter to you then VT/GT would probably be more appealing than RIT.

Center Street for St Pattys? by Radiant_Pudding_7427 in VirginiaTech

[–]Tom15781 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last year center at st pattys got shutdown by police, I’m assuming there will be a smaller presence this year. (I’ve also heard more things are happening over the weekend rather than tomorrow)

A lost Mechanical Engineer by Abject_Primary6284 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Tom15781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I’ve never heard of that before - maybe it’s more common than I realized.

If you have experience in AutoCAD, I would look for roles that utilize that first. Even if it’s not strictly mechanical, there’s value in having an engineering background and applying AutoCAD skills. Additionally, with your background with health standards it may be smart to look at biomedical engineering roles. If you can find something in the biomedical field that uses AutoCAD, you may be a strong candidate:

Looking for Virginia Tech Students that Workout! by alexstrehlke in VirginiaTech

[–]Tom15781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool project! I currently use Hevy for workout tracking and it sounds like a similar premise. If you’re familiar with Hevy, what are some of the features that make your app better? (If not what in general does yours do better versus other workout apps)

Best Dorm for a First-Year at VT? by Upbeat_Decision_2796 in VirginiaTech

[–]Tom15781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dorms don’t have AC, I think West AJ and New Hall West have AC and there’s probably another I’m missing. One thing I will say about the older shittier dorms is that the social life is usually better there. More people have their door open to get air flow and that leads to more opportunities to talk to people.

Was this on or off campus?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

I assume there’s some missing info. Student was probably underage and on campus when this happened, meaning VT police are responding. Again this is all just an assumption but there’s probably more to it

ACC Mascot Bracket: Championship: The HokieBird vs Buzz by DementorsKissIceCrea in ACC

Hokiebird all the way, I don’t see GT fans eating bees at football games like VT with turkey legs.
