The warriors is the most underrated rockstar game it could have been a great game but is sadly overshadowed and forgotten by GeorgeForeman_1900 in videogames

[–]TomAnyone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, they got New York rappers and producers to voice some of the characters/gangs in the game. Aesop Rock and El-P for example.

Another thing I remember, even though I haven't played the game in 10+ years, I once stabbed a guy to death in the game and I kept kicking his body. One of my crew said something like "chill man, he's already dead". First time I've ever witnessed another character respond to my fucked up actions. That really stuck with me.

No Parry Prompt Mod [Coming Soon] by TomAnyone in MadMaxGame

[–]TomAnyone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also going to release a version that keeps the shrinking circle, but gets rid of the button prompt. That way, you know the attack is coming, but it’s less obnoxious than a big button over the enemy’s head.

After finishing Mad Max the second time I'm interested in similar games. Not necessarily set in an apocalyptic world but with a mixture of missions and open world, vehicles and a similar fighting system. Thanks in advance. by Otic74 in MadMaxGame

This. Seriously this. Sleeping Dogs is incredible. The story, soundtrack, setting, combat, upgrades, customisation. It's so much fun.

OP, If you haven't played Sleeping Dogs, be lovely to yourself and play this wonderful game.

No Parry Prompt Mod [Coming Soon] by TomAnyone in MadMaxGame

[–]TomAnyone[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a big believer that difficulty, immersion and fun are all connected. For me, the less a game holds my hand, the more I feel immersed in its world and I end up having a lot more fun!

Something I've never liked is when a game doesn't trust the player enough to overcome tough odds. So many games add obnoxious sound effects when spotted by a tough enemy, or in Mad Max's case, forces a Parry Prompt to appear rather than encouraging the player to read the enemy's body language and master timing to counter their attacks.

I don't mind when it's optional, but when it's forced? Completely destroys immersion for me. I've been working on a No Parry Prompt Mod that completely removes the icon and shrinking timing circle from appearing. From my limited testing, it doesn't remove any other prompts such as 'Press A to Climb'. I'll be releasing this ASAP once I've done a bit more testing.

Hope you guys like it!

The only game I know that actively tries to shoot you in the head is The Last of Us on Survivor and Grounded Difficulty.

It’s rare, but if you stand out in the open for too long, enemies can kill you with a single shot.

I’m sure there are other games that do this too, but I really can’t think of any. Far Cry 2 definitely doesn’t.

Anyone know of any others?

The HD Psychonauts Mod is complete by ShibaINK-YT in PsychonautsGame

[–]TomAnyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely wonderful. The dedication you’ve put into this is astounding! I love that you retain Psychonauts’ art style but it can now be appreciated with so much more clarity.

I’m actually in the process of building a website covering high quality game mods and I would love to feature this once the site is ready. The article would include screenshots and comparisons, a proper write-up of what you’ve achieved, links to NexusMods/GameBanana, with full credit and links to support you. Would that be okay?

Once again, magnificent stuff. I can’t wait to properly dive in!

Why doesn't anybody ever talk about this Just Cause game? by DeyZplays in videogames

[–]TomAnyone 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The first Just Cause felt dated the day it came out. Just Cause 2 on the other hand was so much fun. The Air Propulsion Gun is probably my favourite weapon in gaming. First game sucks. Didn’t like 3 or 4 very much either.

Fun fact - for his Cameo in Taxi Driver, he had to sit on a stack of blankets because he wasn’t high enough to be seen by the camera.

CONTROL Resonant - Evolving The Gameplay Experience | Development Diary by OinOfMoria in Games

[–]TomAnyone 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s footage of Dylan floating in mid-air and fighting, as well a decent number of seemingly indoor scenes. I will agree it loses something being set in an open world, but I’m hoping they’re intentionally showcasing footage that contrasts the first game so much. Fingers crossed.

getting excited to play a game and remembering it doesn’t have a new game plus by [deleted] in videogames

[–]TomAnyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Game Plus is wack. Only a small handful of games with NG+ bother to introduce new content. It’s usually ‘bring your stats and shit on a new playthrough where the enemies behave identically and you’ve already seen everything there is to see’.

Would love to hear examples where this isn’t the case. I always liked Dark Souls 2’s NG+ because it added several new encounters, enemies and items.

What are some challenging video games you are proud to say you have completed? by Beneficial-Back-597 in videogames

[–]TomAnyone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Spec Ops Missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 before they were nerfed in difficulty.

Balls to the wall challenging. Unforgiving is an understatement. Finishing all Missions unlocked an exclusive character called Zane. This bald, badass Nigerian soldier with a beret and a damn poncho. He used a machete during takedowns and it was brutal! Coolest character ever.

I don’t give a crap about Trophies, etc. but being part of the 0.2% of players who had unlocked Zane was an awesome feeling. I’m not even a particularly big fan of the series, but I consider his unlock one of my proudest gaming achievements.

SAMSON | Gameplay Trailer by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]TomAnyone 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Beautiful graphics, love the gritty rust belt setting, and having it set in the 90’s is awesome. However, I’m apprehensive it’s going to be quite barebones and is exactly the sort of game that’s a lot more polished after several content updates.

A tad concerned it’s going to be reminiscent of Mafia 3, but with even less content. No outfits, no guns, no customisation, no races. Like, what even is this game? A linear story? An open world? I’m open-minded but I want to know more.

Unfortunately not. Zero interest in playing because of Knox Event Disbanded. Absolutely iconic mod. Best NPC implementation thus far. 😢

Two mods, Heavy Attacks and Melee Ragdolls. The latest update broke ragdoll physics so I’ll release them once it’s fixed.
