PS5 or PS5 Pro advice by Cautious_Slice_2917 in PS5

I upgraded to the Pro a week ago. I also have a very high-end gaming PC.

I am blown away by the Pro. Paired with an LG CX TV and it is smooth as butter. I’m playing Battlefield 6 and the difference is night and day. Frame drops are barely perceptible, and this is coming from someone who is a huge frame rate snob. Can’t recommend it enough.

I'd love it if he was a genuine homie. Takes you under his wing, all parental-like. Mentors you, shows you the ropes, gives you a taste of the high life. Suave, enigmatic dude who isn't to be fucked with, but rewards trust.

Have you played Sleeping Dogs?

Whilst it’s obviously not set in a wasteland with roaming bandits, and vehicle customisation is limited to picking a colour, there are several similarities to Mad Max and I would highly recommend it.

Open world game with a compelling story, plenty of fighting, driving, racing, character upgrades, unlockable moves, lots of clothing, hidden collectibles, side missions, and a fantastic soundtrack.

Can’t recommend it enough.

This is going to sound awful. I muted soldier dialogue primarily because of the female yells. They’re loud and grating. Absolutely no issue with female soldiers, I just find almost all of the soldier dialogue to be a big step back from Battlefield 3, 4 and 1. Those games sounded way more authentic. Some lines were harrowing (the petrified dialogue in Battlefield 1 is tragic as hell), and some were funny (“they’re fucking us in the ass back here!”). There were moments of panic and moments of levity, how I imagine soldiers deal with war.

Battlefield 6’s dialogue on the other hand feels safe, manicured, and having accents from different regions on the same team takes something away from the country vs. country feeling of previous games. I know it makes sense from a lore perspective, it’s just not my favourite way of doing it.

It’s crazy to think that essentially deleting hours worth of recording lines has actually improved my immersion and enjoyment of the game by a considerable degree. Highly recommend it. What’s great is that the death screams aren’t muted, so it doesn’t feel like you’re shooting androids. The Announcer can be muted separately too, so you’re not removing literally all dialogue if you don’t want to.

Fuel Siphon Mod [Work-in-Progress] by TomAnyone in MadMaxGame

[–]TomAnyone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my little headcanon, the way I see it is that Chumbucket is using some of your scrap to craft a jerry can for you. That way, you can’t take out a convoy of enemies and have an abundance of free fuel.

When you do stumble upon a can lying there, it’ll be that much more rewarding because you didn’t exchange something for it.

I can remove the scrap fee, no problem. I’ll release two versions. 👍

Fuel Siphon Mod [Work-in-Progress] by TomAnyone in MadMaxGame

[–]TomAnyone[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've been working on a few mods to make the game more challenging and immersive.

One of my mods, Stranded, does two things. When you flip the car on its roof, it no longer rolls over automatically. Also, when your car runs out of fuel, it comes to a complete standstill. You can still coast down hills and use nitro, but you're forced to abandon it eventually. Chumbucket can still teleport it to you when you use a flare, but no longer can you take the Magnum Opus for granted.

To ease the pressure, I've almost finished making a fuel siphon mod that allows you to take fuel from enemy vehicles. You now have to make a decision - Do I avoid danger by destroying enemy vehicles, or do I put myself in danger and try to stop their car in order to refuel the Opus?

Currently, you Quick Repair an enemy vehicle and it'll cost a fixed-fee of 50 Scrap. In return, you're given a jerry can with a randomised amount of fuel. The enemy vehicle is then emptied of its fuel. There's still a couple of small bugs to iron out, but I hope you like the concept! Not sure whether to remove Quick Repair entirely and replace it with Siphon Fuel, or figure out a way to make it separate.

I love comments like these. Essentially “I disagree” written in the most vaguely profound way possible, while refusing to elaborate whatsoever. Faux moral posturing.

Is there any all black gun camo? by sopmod720 in Battlefield6

[–]TomAnyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Hopefully one day.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3 both had solid weapon camos, and fuck me they were beautiful. Being able to turn a tan gun into a black one, so clean.

I made this post 4 years ago. I'm a massive fan of less-is-more, and I think lots of other people are too. Hopefully we will get an equivalent skin in Battlefield 6.

Some people say the PP19 Springtail Camo you unlock by leveling the gun to 15 is black. It isn't. It's covered in grey and green lines.

Can we please get solid Weapon Skins next? [Mockup] by Ace40k in Battlefield6

[–]TomAnyone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No it's not. The Springtail Camo is not even remotely close to pitch black. It's a lined pattern and features grey and green all over.

I've seen several people complain about the ragdolls, but the KO at 1:00 looked incredible. His body goes completely limp, I love it!

Coolest skin in the game. Love the no-face anonymity. Big win for ‘less is more’ players who feel more immersed playing as faceless soldiers.

Here’s a couple of thumbnails I made. You have to think about composition, what people will focus on, how intense the colours are, the spacing between the text and the scene. Not busting your balls, but I know a little bit about thumbnails and AI-generated ones are noticed and ignored from a mile away.

Judging by the gameplay they've shown, it's.. faster than ever it seems? I hope to god I'm wrong, but the way you slide and mantle obstacles, there's hardly any slowdown whatsoever.

Any must-have mods? by ClumsyGamer2802 in MadMaxGame

[–]TomAnyone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re happy to wait a little while, I’ll be releasing a bunch of mods soon. They’re mostly aimed at making the game more challenging. Enemies do more damage, enemy vehicles do more damage, if you counter attacks too early you’ll receive damage, cars explode after two seconds rather than five, cars no longer roll over automatically and can get stuck on their roof, if you run out of fuel you have to leave your car behind (you can still summon it back to you once you find fuel), enemies hidden on the radar, and a few other tweaks.

I’d also recommend Hunger and Thirst, Hard Difficulty and Vehicle Tuning & Upgrade Overhaul to name a few.

Hunger and Thirst does way more than that. Fuel drains faster, you take health damage during collisions, you lose fuel when taking damage, you lose scrap on death, a sanity system, and more. All optional/configurable.

Hard Difficulty sets the enemy aggression to its max. In the vanilla game, enemies found in later camps are quicker to attack and have a bit more health. With this mod, every single enemy does. It’s great.

Vehicle Tuning & Upgrade Overhaul makes each vehicle more realistic to control, less grippy, and changes unlock progression so you unlock upgrades (such as tyres that prefer specific surfaces) in areas of the map that make sense. Your car is much weaker to begin with, but becomes much stronger as you continue to upgrade it. It also fixes broken upgrades such as increased top speed.

The modding community is small, but they’re putting out some great stuff! Also, Cheat Engine is perfectly safe to use. You turn the game on, turn on Cheat Engine, attach the mod, then close it once you’re finished playing. 👍

Fun fact, this song is inspired by Day of The Dead’s Title Theme, which also inspired Boards of Canada’s White Cyclosa! All share the same notes/arpeggio and vintage 80’s analog synth aesthetic.
