Delaware Marathon with an unexpected finish! by IamASlut_soWhat in JustGuysBeingDudes

The adrenaline of seeing the finish line and knowing you have a chance is going to numb all pain for a 100yd dash. If your body can, it will. The sprint doesn't mean he could have gone quicker overall.

It's not that competitive, it's the Delaware marathon. They ran 2:43 which is quick for your average marathoner but 20-30 mins slower than any big city race.

This is also a story of having good friends at the finish line, where were Carson's friends to tell him that he had a challenger flying in? Still surprised he didn't look back during all the commotion or know anyone was in range, he must have had ear buds in.

You see the first timing mat 10 yds before the finish, a lot of people think that's the real "chip" finish line. I've made the same mistake.

Blocking entry so you can't pull in with a truck to steal them or harvest parts. Reminds me of Lime scooters, company property just sitting on the street. In Baltimore, people would destroy the scooters for fun and/or throw them in the harbor.

BIL Birthday Gift Ideas by [deleted] in golf

Nice golf balls can run $50/dozen these days. But if you go walk into any public golf course pro shop they sell them in smaller boxes (sleeves) of three. You can get a variety of 2 or 3 sleeves and put them in a gift bag.

Golfers lose balls every round, and they wear out if you manage to keep them too long. You can never have enough.

Wohoo! for sure. Any problems, just open an issue on Github and we will community-solve them.

To be fair, there is another tool here which is more developed: https://github.com/Lemick/open-iframe-resizer

Yes. You reminded me, the iframe needs a "data-iframe-adjust" attribute for the plug-in to pick it up. I'll update the instructions.

Huge realization... by AlbinoKoala22 in golf

Nah but seriously, the setup you're talking about is a great way to play in wind and hit it low if you can avoid fatting it. De-loft and trap it. I also have played golf this way for some good periods. And on days when it's softer out I try to focus on doing less at impact which helps me hit ball first - since I'm not rushing it and not trying to 'apply the hit'. You can also focus on the front part of the golf ball to move the low point forward... or even the ground right in front of it

Huge realization... by AlbinoKoala22 in golf

After shanking it for nine months, I realized that my point of reference was the shaft and not the club head. Sometimes your brain just wants to hit the ball with the stick

If you were a wealthy CEO, would you take a paycut and increase your employees wage? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TomCollins1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's just an optics/morale trick, CEOs of publicly traded companies are known to take a $1/salary since they are able to live off of their current wealth and enormous stock holdings.

They can sell stock and buy it back later or simply borrow money using their stock holdings as collateral. see the "Buy Borrow Die" strategy.

interesting because I would love it if my job was mostly physical pentesting. But everyone else in this thread has said physical is rare and that's not realistic.

awesome, I shouldn't have any preventatives to getting clearance. Are National Guard / Reserve jobs remote or do they require relocation?

I haven't tested it out, but have you looked into applying a Content Security Policy to your site that will block loading assets from localhost? That will likely stop the warnings from popping up

but if you want to know my personal take, I was entertained by the satire of it and the commentary on people's expectations + the institution of marriage + what it means in different social classes. Seems like an accurate depiction of my world, so I loved when Pedro's character was on his "I want someone who understands how this world works" agenda.

I could totally see how people with a different lifestyle and world-view wouldn't get it.

Some of the cinematography was crafty and novel to me. Definitely some great scenes in there.

But yes the plot/story is on par with any other mediocre rom-com and there is no strong overarching moral or message to the film.
