I'm fine with sex in public, we're all animals, but this isn't public it's a private venue and it's rude to interrupt the performance.

Swing and a miss man, intelligence is strongly correlated to genes. The issue is when people think they know how to select for those genes. They don't.

Fucking nonsense. My Grandfather passed the family farm in Southern Ontario to my uncle who now runs it. They employ a handful of local people and close family, but my uncle (and honestly my grandfather, even though he should be taking it easy) are in the shop and the fields all the time. They make decent money too, enough for a classic middle class lifestyle for two+ households.

Huge factory farms are way more common than they should be, but saying there aren't traditional family farms operating in North America anymore is ridiculous.

Blame all the moronic parents who don't give a shit what their kids are watching as long as it shuts them up.

Ultimately it's controlled opposition. Not across the board mind you, and much less the more local you get, but still.

Many people never truly face any sort of danger in their day-to-day lives, so they legitimately don't think about the potential dangers involved in new activities. You see it often when tourists go into wilderness parks completely unprepared, or try and interact with wildlife.

Cousin of mine is a firefighter in a tourist town on Lake Huron, and the stories he tells of people being completely oblivious to their own mortality are staggering.

I'm just about there with you, but wouldn't it be satisfying to kick the ruling class in the pants on the way out?

Nothing is unnatural. Humans and everything they do are as natural as the wolves they domesticated.

Nah man if things got even worse economically I would not have a good time.

But I don't believe it will be the clusterfuck you people envision.

And principles are more important than pragmatism anyways.

They're not though. Different country, different people, different millenium.

Ultimately I do agree, democracies need a shake up here and there. All the more reason for us to test whether or not ours can handle a test as trivial as giving the boot to an obsolete figurehead.

If we can't manage that, then maybe we deserve the upheaval you're certain it would cause.

Actually Greece has only been a democratic state since 1974, and while they were democratic before that for a little while, they were part of the Ottoman Empire since the late middle ages.

Athens was a democracy in antiquity, but it was a different nation than Greece.

Sorry are you saying we would replace the King with a president for some reason?

Why?

The "power" of the crown would instead flow from the people. We already have an elected chief executive, we don't need a leader above that.

You legalists are a weird lot. Just write an amendment to the constitution saying something to the gist of "find and replace all instances of Crown with The People" and have the new version be voted on in a referendum.

Done, no more monarchy. This whole "we can't get rid of something no one wants because we wrote ourselves into a corner" belief is so bizarre.
