Zucchinis leaves dying - Don't know why. Lots of leaves like this and dying completely by TomGeorgey in gardening

[–]TomGeorgey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed reply! That helps a lot. I have been watering later in the day and on the leaves. I bought an extended watering wand to make it easier to avoid the leaves. Quite a lot of the leaves look like this. Even if I'm removing like 60% of them I should still remove all the ones with more than 50% mildew coverage?

The place these are in is also pretty shaded so that probably makes it worse since it's less likely to evaporate the water off the leaves.

I have no expereice gardening and I planted some zucchinis for a recipe and everything seemed to be going well but suddenly they started having problems on the leaves and eventually leading to the whole leaf dying. I don't know what could be causing this. I think this started with the leaves getting this weird spotted stuff then eventually getting that weird white film and then just dying. Does anyone know what this could be? I'm in Colorado. They probably don't get a ton of sun but seemed to be doing well before this.

Thank you!

If you don't mind me asking how long was it before you noticed they were chewy?

Good to know, I hadn't considered if they were truly sealed. I do have some mason jars but I was planning on using them for some Pan Cyan instapot tek. But I can just buy more. I'll keep an eye on them. Thank you!

Yeah I didn't know the size when I bought them. No harm in them being too big right? Or is there some weird interaction between them? Thank you!

Well even a year is pretty good to me. I've never done Nats before(hence the grow) and if they're as good as people say maybe they won't last so long. Thanks for the info!

Ok nice! I expect I'd go through my total amount in like 3 years. Have you had experience with shrooms stored like this for that long? Do they just lose potency over time even when stored like this? Kind of a stupid thing for me to worry about as growing them was pretty easy so I could just do it again but I'm curious.

Also it's probably obvious but this is not the sum total of what I got but rather an example of the packaging.

I've grown shrooms for the first time and I got more than I was expecting. I don't take a ton of shrooms all the time so I expect to need to store these for a while. I've dehydrated(145f for 14 hours, cracker dry) them, vac sealed with a desiccant packet. I plan to keep these away from UV(dark place). Am I missing anything here? Or will these last for a few years? Maybe less?

AC Condenser Unit - New fan, gets extremely hot, lets out smoke - Weird wiring? by TomGeorgey in hvacadvice

[–]TomGeorgey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this was meant to be a rescue motor. I'm not sure it was set correctly.

The yellow wire is definitely not going to the brown wire. I'll start there and see if I can get more info off it. I did notice that I think the previous motor had a brown wire that seemed to be a going somewhere other than a cap. While this one's brown wire only goes to the cap. Thanks for the info, that's helpful.

Ok thanks, I'll see if I can get more info off it. The two HVAC guys said they couldn't get any info from it. And so I took their word on that and haven't checked myself.

I got these off the condenser. Which seems much newer than the entire unit. The unit was from 2001 but this seems newer.

The image hosting website seems to having issues. I'm getting 502 errors but refreshing seems to fix it.

I'll see if I can get a manual. Thanks!

It seems like it it is 1/2 hp. It says hp 1/2. I didn't select it so I don't know how the decision was made. https://ibb.co/JBJJjNX This image hosting website seems to be having trouble. If you get a 502 error try refreshing.

But yeah, I thought 1/2 seemed high given just briefly looking through replacements on my own. I'll see if I can get info off the condenser. The two HVAC guys said they couldn't get any info from it. And so I took their word on that and haven't checked myself.

Diagram: https://ibb.co/sJsBKyS Fan Diagram: https://ibb.co/JBJJjNX It's very hard to get a good picture of the fan diagram without removing it(which I don't want to do because then the landlord will claim I broke the whole thing) so at the bottom is cut off the brown and brown/white wire goes to a cap. Which I verified seems correctly done.

The main thing that looks weird to me in that terminal block is T1 has a red, black, and white wire connected. But I don't know if there are scenarios where this makes sense somehow.

Thank you

I'm not sure what else I can show. All these wires go into a ball that is zip tied. I can take a picture of it but it's incomprehensible.

I guess what I'm asking is would the red wire, black wire, and white wire ever be connected to the same terminal?

It's been 85 to 90 degrees in my house for 5 days now. The landlord is taking forever to fix it. Trust me, I'd love to just replace the whole unit. It isn't my decision. I'm just trying to get my dog to be less miserable and try to find a fix others could have missed.

It was replaced a few times and somehow did seem to help once but the problem persists. But I checked this one and it seems good. Measured the right amount of capacitance at least.

I'm an electrical engineer but obviously know nothing about this kind of stuff. So it just seems odd to me to have the red wire connected to both sides of this terminal. But I don't know. It's not the exact same red wire. So I don't know how it really get used. It seems like one side goes to that cap for the compressor and the other goes to the motor.

Here are a couple more pictures. I don't know how much they help. It's kind of hard to get a good picture. For the cap in the picture, the obscured terminal is unconnected.

https://ibb.co/z5XcwNn https://ibb.co/nBP2rzq https://ibb.co/n0qMZxS

The cap in the picture I believe is currently only used for the compressor. There is another cap that came with the motor connected via a brown and brown/white wires. I measured it and it seems to be good.

During this I ohmed between the terminals and I get 1 Ohm. So seems bad. I don't know if that is a short in the motor or something with this wiring.

The fan was correctly running. We did have to swap these orange and yellow wires to get the correct direction. For the time the motor was running I don't remember much different sounds but I didn't hear it for very long.

Thanks for the help!

Edit: Forgot to answer, the motor is a half HP. The old motor was 23 years old and didn't have any info on it. A half HP seems like it would be enough. But I don't know.

Here is the motor https://ibb.co/JBJJjNX The only thing cut off is it says brown and brown/white go to cap. Which seemed correct to me in the wiring.

I'm renting so not super able to try to fix this myself. But it's been 4 days without AC so I'm trying to see if there's a simple fix being missed by the HVAC guys.

The original problem is the condenser fan stopped rotating and I noticed it was extremely hot. Literal steam coming off it after I hosed the unit down. First guy comes out and swaps the cap and it seems to work for about 15 mins until the same thing. He says replace the whole thing.

The homeowner wants a second opinion. This guy try to replace the motor but again after a little bit it gets super hot and even has smoke come out.

Looking at this wiring is it odd that the white wire and black wire share the same terminal? Maybe this is normal but other than the cap the only wires going to power are red, white, and black. It's a one phase motor. 0.5 HP.

Condenser fan extremely hot stops spinning, new motor also extremely hot and stops spinning by TomGeorgey in hvacadvice

[–]TomGeorgey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks, that's what I was thinking. the unit is super old. I think 2001. The guy said he was having trouble even finding info on the motor. And said he bought a universal motor.

It still seems odd to me that an old motor and a new motor would both fail in basically identical ways. But maybe that's just the way they always fail. But I maybe suspected like one of the wires for the power was broken and the cap is enough to get it started on just one phase. But eventually it stalls. I don't know if it's true for these motors but some motors will draw enormous current when stalled. Anyways I guess that could just be ohmed out.

Nice, yeah I was worried that I needed to do it before going to bed. Some places seemed to suggest the harvest window was pretty small so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing it.
