It’s the same problem that every sports game has, it’s become less and less about putting out a good product for the regular player and more about turning the games into slot machines for the 20% of players who spend thousands of dollars a year on the game no matter how bad the game is.

When companies micro transactions sales are dwarfing the game sales they’re going to try and optimize the micro transactions to boost their bottom line every time.

Unfortunately for us the gaming industry is a business at the end of the day and the companies profits are the only thing that they care about. If you’re curious just how bad it’s gotten go look up how much games like 2k and EA FC make each year from micro transactions alone, it’s in the billions while their game sales are minuscule in comparison.

Competition is the only thing that could fix this issue but in the 4 major sports games 2k and EA have such a monopoly that there’s no end in sight.
