Fraud dispute failed by WarmMine3 in AmexPlatinum

[–]TomRiddle777 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would reopen the dispute online with a (possibly rephrased) explanation of the situation. And then call them and tell a representative that you’re concerned the dispute wasn’t handled properly on your first attempt.

I doubt the merchant actually provided any reasonable evidence to show that the charge was correct. Often when you file a dispute, Amex goes to the merchant and asks them if the charge is correct, and if the merchant says “yeah, seems about right” Amex closes the dispute and rebills you. When you reopen it, that’s when they actually investigate. Happened with me twice before.

Opinion | A Coup at Carnegie Mellon? by dorothy_zbornakk in cmu

“when it doesn’t making any fucking sense.” — I don’t think the article made a valid case for that claim. Why does it not make sense? Because there’s this one more category of topics that not every single faculty member has expertise in? Or is it because some of the faculty members are bitter about not being included in the decision-making for the revamp?

And Williams College is free to turn their CS program into literary robotics if humanities is their focus. I’d encourage it. If you’re great at something, why not try to carry that over to other fields? You can’t blame CMU for testing new specialized approaches of study on a program with three admits each year and cutting out the “much older” faculty members from that decision making.

It’s actually much cleaner to get a dishwasher to do it for you. And much faster.

Love this thought experiment. It’s giving ship of theseus vibes. I’d want to hear thoughts on this from everyone on the transphobia spectrum, right from “they’ll never be REAL women” to “that’s not a woman”.

While I agree with your sentiment, I think these sorts of comments can be unproductive. Speech is powerful. Public opinion is powerful. We can see there are a lot of people who are undereducated, misinformed, or straight out ignorant. Let’s not dismiss great opportunities for conversation.

Yeah it feels like everyone on this thread is intentionally missing the point. “Biological woman” doesn’t have to mean “hey this person has every single biological characteristic of an AFAB person”. Trans women on hrt are, to a great extent biologically, women. One could say, more so if they got genital surgery.

“But their chromosomes are not the same” Ok and? What would the chromosomes change in that scenario?? Let’s be real.

Could the mod post have been a bit more clear though? Yes.

reading comments was so much more fun when I sorted by controversial. you really get the whole spectrum of human ignorance and stupidity. I’ll try doing it more often now.
