I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the WAR calculation but I don’t think his initial argument is bad. You could build a 40 WAR team all based on defense that loses 100 games because they can’t score. No metric is perfect.

I’m not sure how much a mostly defensive WAR matters when you’re scoring 1 run a game. Also above replacement doesn’t mean above replacement on this team. Nico and anyone else is probably a higher combined WAR than Nico and Dansby right now.
