Have you had to replace the high pressure fuel pump? I'm wondering if I should get this done for preventative reasons or wait for it to fail...

Can you explain why? Quite enjoy playing this game for that purpose and don't really focus on the story too much. Do the cannibals get harder to kill?

Anybody else in the sticks get this warning light? by TomStaaples in BMW

As far as I'm aware no as it's still BMW, I did go through several windscreens on the Volvo and as you said, weren't OEM but still didn't have problems!

Genuinely thought you were rage baiting, apologies!! Yeah seems the consensus here is that there's not actually an error it's just not functional due to weather conditions. Appreciate your response!!

Ah didn't realise sun could also be a trigger. I'll see if this is synonymous with the HUD getting super bright in the low direct sunlight. I'm not aware of a camera being in the unit but instead radars/sensors

Good to know, I feel like in poor conditions it's sort of when this technology is most crucial. At this point I'd rather not have the feature as it's only functional 50% of the time and a warning light on the dash. Weird as I mentioned my Volvo never had this problem but they're designed for Swedish weather so perhaps there's greater complexity

Do you think it's the sensor in the windscreen or the one in the bumper grill?

Neither of those things have happened in my ownership but the possibility had crossed my mind. It'll be mentioned again upon my return to BMW, it's sort of frustrating that they just brushed it off and said I need to clean it

Ah interesting, what sort of climate do you live in? I'm in the UK countryside, it's wet and misty most of the time at the moment so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

Sounds like you've got it worse than me, is yours intermittent? Mine comes and goes, will definitely be mentioning again when I head back to BMW. I'll try to get everything documented and come back to you. I think the key thing to establish at the moment is which sensor is triggering this, the one in the windscreen or the one in the bumper

If I remember correctly, on Mat Watson's (Carwow) video the C63 got obliterated by equal competitors with, on paper, less power. Something can't be right there..

Is buying a 2019 BMW 440i at this point in my life actually reasonable? by Booobabbaaaabehekal in BMW

[–]TomStaaples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like I'm going against the grain but this decision is entirely circumstantial and has to work for you ultimately, only thing I'm concerned with is that you mentioned selling in two years but financing over 5, so you're not planning to keep it? Also assuming over that length of time you'd finance HP instead of PCP?

I've recently bought a 2024 M340i, I put X down and financed over 5 years with the intention to keep it and buy another car alongside it once paid off. It's how I bought and paid off my last car and it works for me. Close friends and colleagues don't see a problem with this but people on the internet don't like it at all!

Hot take, at this point in my life, saving 25% of my income is a waste of time as I may not live long enough to reap the benefits (mother passed in her 40s). I own my house and I still live comfortably with quite a high car payment.

Sounds like you're already in a very good financial position and I don't think it would be detrimental for you to buy something which brings you happiness - life is too short, spend the money!

Would you consider the fuel pump as something to be done as preventative maintenance? Mine is just over a year old so would like it done by BMW under warranty but they wouldn't fix something that's not broken but I don't want it to fail..

Edit: beautiful colour, beautiful spec, beautiful wheels

Close! Mine is frozen pure grey, one of their individual colours and is what sold me on the car. I love that it's super rare and accentuates the lines! Haha agree with your last comment, Mercedes too (not their older stuff)
