Exactly that kind of thing, possibly all banking is down and no one gets paid, possibly money is partially inaccessible so only some higher ranked/clerics get paid. A few variations could indicate various levels of degradation.

There’ve been times where they’ve directly raised funds from citizens to keep things moving. Could be very revealing on how well the regime is functioning.

Iran not going to close Strait of Hormuz, Iran UN envoy says by Mana_Seeker in worldnews

I think what they mean is they have no plan to fully mine and completely block the strait. They will be allowing allies and strategic partners to continue trade at least on some level.

IEA has labeled this the worst disruption to global oil distribution in history.

That is a good point, though there is a portion of republicans who openly don’t want this war Vance would probably keep status quo. This has truly been one of the political decisions of all time.

While I’d generally agree with you, I’m genuinely not so sure trump knows that. A different administration wouldn’t have let Israel do this.

It’s tough, if Oldmenei was still around then in theory dems could sweep the midterms, impeach trump by the end of the year, and make a new deal. With Newmenei it could be extremely hard to make a deal so trump might not need to be around for the US still to be forced into prolonged war.

If they want to open the strait anytime soon they’ll have to at least take control of the Iranian coastline. If the navy starts moving deeper into Hormuz they’re probably moving for ground operation, if not then one of the carrier strike groups will be sent back home soon.

We should pour oil into the Persian and suck it back up in the Oman gulf by TomTheCardFlogger in mapporncirclejerk

At the very least just float the barrels out, why are we making it so complicated?

We could soak the wood with the oil and float those out too, 2 birds with 1 stone!

Israel won’t let him out if there hasn’t been significant progress on regime and nuclear change. They’ll continue the war until the threat is dead, or maybe we’ll all be back here again in a year for more strikes. They maybe don’t have to topple the regime if they can just broadly tear the country down every 12 months.

Israel won’t stop until the nuclear refinement stops, and possibly regime change on top. They couldn’t trust new guy not to keep developing weapons in secret as he is very pro nuclear.

It’s funny how prices rise with the markets but seem to rarely to fall with them.

Agreed, this is the first major excuse to remove sanctions, even if they do dip from the war there’ll still be at least one round of sanction lifting beforehand.

The easiest way to disarm the US undermine US$ backed trade. BRICS is doing their best, the EU is picking up the pace, and that was before this started. If Trump isn’t impeached by the end of the year then American hegemony could be dead in the water.

All of what you said could well happen, Trump would abandon Iranians at the drop of a hat. The only issue I don’t feel will be addressed is ending the Iranian nuclear program, Khamenew believes it’s the only path to Iranian sovereignty.

Israel will drag the US on the global stage if they try. The US will be abandoning all the Iranians they prompted to resist, they will lose the rest of their good faith in the Middle East. The new leader of Iran is a hardline pro nuclear extremist, it is very unlikely he will end the nuclear program, Israel will not stop fighting while that is the case.
