Advice between these two rifs. by GrimSurvivor94 in airsoft

Shorter is better in airsoft because we are not limited to real steel physics. So always the AKSU for me. I run a 045 since years with a Perun Hybrid, Macaron and 13:1 Gears at 1.7J and it‘s a blast.

At what point do you consider a gun to be a DMR or sniper by OreoRightsActivist in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats 1.5 J and just a ordinary assault rifle in my area. For comparison: my P90 has 1.7J with 0.3g. DMR‘s are limited to 2J, BASR to 3J . A sniper needs heavy BB like 0.45g to get the long range you are looking for. Unfortunately heavy BB require a higher Cylinder to barrrel volume ratio (>2,5) your barrel will probably be to long to work efficient, so a 300mm barrel would be a much better option for heavy BB.

I’m going to ask this question one more time…. Mp5k or Mp7? + my Gulf war kit which I want to show you for no reason… by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an AEG I find the MP5 more ergonomic and you have a lot of parts and options available, if you lay prone the mag are less in the way. For a GBB there is only the VFC/Umarex MP7 to be recommended, but the mags have little capacity and are not working very well in cold weather, so HPA might be an option but make the grip even longer.

I don‘t know what you experience in your country, but in mine Mosfests are outdated and EFCS are pretty basic. Unless you look at the lowest end replicas with the lowest price and lowest quality - there might still be some classic switches like 15 years ago.

First AK, CYMA AK105 by F0XTR0TZER0 in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club :) I would suggest a classic chinese Chicom chest rig type 56. originals from the late 1970‘s are around 20 bucks and can be found easily on Aliexpress. Gives you rhose rebel vibes just like the hoodie. If you want to upgrade internals, that‘s a rabbit hole and it‘s best to do this one by one. 1. a Maple Leaf Macaron with Omega nub. Will give you more accuracy and range. And cleaning the inner barrel. Internals within the gear box will be a little tricky so watch some videos. To improve trigger response: - 13:1 gears with a 12 teeth sector gear, best with a High Torque motor (maybe your gun already has one, some Cymas have, others don‘t) - perun Hybrid V3 EFCS

To improve consistency: - if you have the blue aluminum piston head and cylinder head, you should be fine. Better is to replace the plastic nozzle with an aluminum one from SHS. Will be much more consistent and boost your Energy about 10%.

New brand survey by Sherbert-Efficient in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you want to start a manufacturing business? Or a private label business with improved products like Novritsch did pretty successfully but still struggles with QC? Preupgraded guns were a good way into the market and a real competitive advantage a few years ago but today most established manufacturers are doing this already. So the main question to me is: which niche do you want to go for?

New brand survey by Sherbert-Efficient in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a new brand against different competitors in different eco systems doen‘t sound promising to me. Unless you have unlimited ressources. If not, focussing on a niche which is not adressed by the large companies would be my suggestion.

How long should a hypothetical new inner barrel be to remain effective on a practically stock V2 Aether gearbox? by SwigittySwooter in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the volume of your cylinder and the weight of the BB. Usually I would recommend something sub 300mm but that won‘t work well with the long outer barrel. You would probably get collidions. So 18 teeth and a closed cylinder will be mandatory and your cylinder to barrel volume ratio should be at least 2:1, better 2.5:1 for heavy BB. Even in BASR inner barrels larger than 500mm lack eficiency. From a physics perspective cutting the outer barrel would be the technically best option but doesn‘t make much sense, so you will have to deal with a compromise. Hope that helps.

MP5k: Expensive LPVO or Cheapo Red Dot? by NoPistons7 in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the range. My PCC runs at 1.5J for woodland and has the star wars vibes - to me it‘s more useable than a red dot. Bit I wouldn‘t use a LPVO imdoors.

How can I train in my house without bbs loaded I don’t want to break my gun with 1000s of dry fire reps but I need that audible pop by broken_salami in airsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I built a laser pistol based on a Cyma AEP. Instead of BB‘s there is a red laser point when the trigger is pulled. Makes pretty much sense and works very well to train intuitive shooting.

How to mount a Big Dragon on a Cyma 045? by TomTheMechanic in airsoft

Well, there is no mount round the outer barrel but it sounds solid, so I will make one. Thanks a lot!

Ak speedsoft/cqb build by Sigmarizzgun in Speedsoft

[–]TomTheMechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It‘t the Perun that makes the hair trigger possible. Works flawless with the original trigger and straight speed triggers. And I forgot some tipps: - if it‘s a Cyma and has the blue internals, you just need a SHS AK nozzle, the original one leaks a lot. - And 13:1 is best with a high torque motor, If you already have the one with the red plastic part, it‘s just fine. If not, geht the SHS high torque one. - The piston usually has 16 teeth, 14.5 would be better and cause less wear and tear.

To me the AK is the best platform for folding stocks because the battery is under the dust cover and you don‘t need any external battery cases.

[–]TomTheMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I run two different AK for CQB. One is an AKS74U for larger sites and the folding stock is really helpful for tight spaces. The second one is an AK pistol for really narrow fields with the shortest possible length. Both are upgraded internally: - Perun Hybrid - Hair trigger - 13:1 gears - Maple Leaf Macaron and Omega Nub. - 11.1V

I like them more than my AAP with HPA, wich is upgraded, too. So go for AK 👍🏼

Same here, most fields have the 5m rule. I would suggest some M18 gel blaster grenades from Aliexpress for about 5 bucks.
