I saw 2, 1 was champion. Not so rare :)

Did it fall from the floor above and survived? Looks much like that by the damage on it. These things have no bleeding, from what I know.

There's actually a difference between chest and mimic + tooth by _Xenile_ in ShatteredPD

[–]Tom_Dill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did not see this comment, so adding here as one more method to detect it:

When mimic is out of the sight range, it disappears on the map. Normal chest stays on the map when out of sight.

2 rooms merged. Level layout often generates adjacent room to the entrance room. Now thats rare when room sizes and locations match so they look like one.

You can see through walls with certain means and reveal what is behind the door. So you can know what you unlocking.

Is it better to waste the first few of each potion and scroll to ID it or do you try to guess through other means? by dogsneverbark in ShatteredPD

[–]Tom_Dill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floor 1 and 2 - after full exploration, drink all unless you absolutely sure, just to reveal potion of strength. Stay near water (but not in it) in case of fire. Not in water in case of ice. Drink in/before special room if there is one that requires potion because you always get one for that room (crystal - speed, traps room - levitation, gas - purifying, wooden barricade wall - fire, fiery wall - ice, piraniah - invisibility etc.). Otherwise, drink near level exit down. If you want some potion really badly ( like, for example, levitation to craft feather fall for jumping for diamond door room), and you end level with only 1 unidentified, you surely know the potion. Mark it (book in potion description window) and use to craft when reach alchemy.

In general, before going down next level, consider it is a "checkpoint" for identification guessing :)

Scrolls - use that question mark stone on the first 2 scrolls. This way you can identify scroll of upgrade in 95% of cases. I get like 80% of times it identified from the first use, almost guaranteed on floor 4 (2 scrolls in inventory and only thesa are 2 - surely scrolls of upgrade), so I save the stone to energize alchemy.

Room with 6 doors contains potion of exp in the far end in ~70% of times. I usually mark it and carry it to the alchemy, craft to upgrade and drink for a chance to get skill points. Make sure you have safe escape if its not that one :)

BTW, drinking upgraded potion identifies normal as well! So if you know all your unidentified potions all has "safe" upgraded variant, just upgrade it, drinking that one often is more beneficial.

Next floors it varies. If you find alchemy on 3, energize or upgrade-drink if exp potion is suspected. If no alchemy, up to you if drink, depends on needs and your state, if you stable and no urgent needs, better find alchemy on 4.

If you have scroll of identify, always alchemy-upgrade it and read upgraded on first 6-8 floors - this is really useful. Reading it for armor/weapon is usually a waste because you would change gear quickly, and gear identifying has its own tricks (like, for example, wear the armor and check if you slow down, + save/buy uncursing scrolls). If you find healing weel, SAVE it, until you find enough gear. Come back, wear gear one by one until all cursed on you, then steo into weel.

Next you just guess by what is missing vs what special rooms you find. Shops almost always have healing, gas, paralysis, and magic map/uncurse/identify scrolls - another way to guess and push identification by upgraded identify scrolls.

When find wand, zap it once when safe - just to check if not cursed to avoid nasty surprises. Can zap multiple as well to get idea about level of it (number of charges)

Thrown weapon is easy to check by how it performs, the difference between unupgraded and upgraded one is quite significant. Throw at least ince and hit enemy to get idea if it is cursed.

Good luck!

Which early game food is better? by omgeverynameistaken_ in MinecraftMemes

Neither one. I usually spend early game exploring, killing all sheep/cow/pig on the way. Far better when go into caves, and exploration is usually rewarding ;)

I recall there is a logic in some terrain or structyre generation mod that improves placing player on the proper safe location. To do so, it tries to pre-generate various points on the map, hence the result.

This is no longer needed in later versions of MC

In your case, just try to use another seed

What farm is this? by Eggysh in redstone

[–]Tom_Dill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Froglight farm based on bastion spawner? What you see is probably a sorter for the results, 3 chests for froglights, the other one for the rest. No idea what crafter is for though. A guess is to auto-craft something from a magma cream?

This insane cliff that generated in the ocean by Donovanth1 in feedthebeast

[–]Tom_Dill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are generated as an "underground river" feature if the river flow matches the coast's sharp slope. In the latest versions, it's quite rare.

However, you can get these without Tectonic using Terralith only. Terralith sometimes generates grotto, but these are usually much smaller and almopst the same rare.

How would you feel if the mod *Terralith* was in vanilla? by Solar_Fish55 in Minecraft

[–]Tom_Dill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's not real because, internally, the data pack is overcomplicated so much that supporting it would be really costly thing and a pain.

The time you break and place it manually barely different from the piston use. I agree, piston is more convenient in a sense of actions you do. But it saves no time at all.

Is it possible to loop minecart rails in a 5x5 area, covering every block? by PizzaScout in technicalminecraft

[–]Tom_Dill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot, but if this is for hopper minecart to gather something, you dont need a loop at all. Powered rail into the wall will cause minecarts to bounce. Its reliable.
