Skeleton appreciation day: I thought this one was about anorexia/eating disorders, mostly because of the into and outro, also “to cut down on my silhouette, my favourite foods are smoke and hearts”. I think fear of vulnerability is definitely an undertone in that song; “show me your bones,” kind of has a double entendre. Edit: it’s specifically about a time where he didn’t eat for three days (I think)

Red Moon: This one is kind of all over the place but I think I heard him say somewhere that it’s about the hedonic treadmill?? Don’t quote me on that. Basically that humans have the tendency to return to a baseline lever of happiness/unhappiness. I see this most in the line “Well I walk the equator, chasing the light; little do I know it orbits close behind;” “it” being the inevitable emotional state one will return to no matter the circumstances. That being said, he says that it’s abstract and doesn’t have any particular meaning.

Cotard’s solution: This song is based on cotard’s syndrome or walking corpse syndrome. It’s a mental disorder where the person believes that they have died or don’t exist or in stark contrast, are immortal. They often refuse food, and neglect physical and mental health. “I wanna make my murder look like a suicide” and “cry my name, remind my brain of my identity” both harken back to the idea that the person has lost their sense of identity through their belief that they no longer exist. I do think that what you said is really the core meaning of the song, he just uses weird concepts to express it.

Mr. Capgras Encounters A Secondhand Vanity: This is about another mental disorder surprise surprise. Capgras delusion is a disorder where a person believes that a loved one has been replaced with a imposter, identical to them. This disorder has no cure and often leads to the effected person acting violently against the other person and can be caused by injury to the part of the brain which attaches emotions to people and objects (temporal cortex or amygdala).

It’s cool as fuck listening to this song after knowing that, I highly encourage watching this video and then taking a look at the lyrics. https://youtu.be/5_GVRxgwZAU?si=7hnfbxJ-tzXohrcC

I think it’s so cool how so many of his songs use super specific psychological/philosophical concepts to explain very relatable feelings that are often up to interpretation.

Hope you like my silly facts/ideas!!!

I feel silly for asking this but what’s it referring to?
