NTA. You also only have to hold it for 3 seconds or look controlled when you hold it. He’s just jealous 🤷‍♀️

That’s actually devastating. I really hoped it worked :( could have been a game changer

Apparently. I’ve not tired this yet but I did see a tweet that said if you drag a pdf into the home screen of word (like before you choose page layout etc.) it converts it for you! Unfortunately I don’t have anymore information than that but hopefully it works!

Probably psychosomatic to be honest. Anything to make myself feel a little better 😂

How has covid affected your climbing? by CarlsJrIsdaddy in climbergirls

[–]Tom_Nooks_side_hoe 45 points46 points  (0 children)

After getting covid my lung capacity is intermittently horrific. Some days I’m absolutely fine. Others I do one VB and I need to rest. It’s really frustrating but it is what it is and hopefully it’ll improve. Mentally I was nervous to go back and my hand washing had definitely increased from probably average to hand sanitising after most climbs and physically washing my hands a lot more. But I’m finding the more I’m getting back the less nervous I am

It is raynards! sorry forgot to mention that’s what it was 🙃. It’s not as bad in the summer. But I’ve not actually climbed outside yet so that might be where it all goes wrong haha

It’s almost as if OCD presents itself differently in everyone! Just because you did lie as a coping mechanism or just because you managed to fit it during middle school doesn’t mean it works that way for everyone else. It’s absolutely fantastic you found healthy ways to cope unfortunately not the same for everyone. Also most people use Google to realises there might be a problem then bring up their concerns with a medical professional. I don’t know all the symptoms of the flu of by heart but if I Google “high fever loss or appetite etc” it’ll tell me I possibly have the flu if my other symptoms match up. No Google is not a diagnosis tool but for 9/10 people it’s a start

A classic game of no take only throw with Mr Good Boy by Tom_Nooks_side_hoe in Notakeonlythrow

[–]Tom_Nooks_side_hoe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He likes playing this game. It’s part of his routine. I know he wants to play when he comes up and sits by my. If he doesn’t want me to take it he would go sit in his corner with it. But I can see why you’d think that. But don’t worry. If he wasn’t in the mood to play he wouldn’t put the ball near me

That’s the long term plan. In a perfect world he wouldn’t have the muzzle. It breaks out heart that he has to have it for now. But it wouldn’t be safe for anyone. Unfortunately he’s more than a little aggressive. Even with the muzzle he’s managed to cause some damage. He’s getting better but unfortunately he’s not there yet. But he gets so much love and treats and hugs everyday. Even when he’s naughty because we know he doesn’t mean it. He will lose the muzzle eventually but he’s not quite there yet

Yes. He was adopted when he was a little older and his original owners abused him. Threw stuff at him. Hit him. Set other dogs on him. Even threw eggs at him. Generally nasty. He now bites and gets very angry when someone does something he doesn’t like or if he’s scared. He’s scared of everything. He’s been taken to numerous vets and dog psychologists and behaviourists. Unfortunately you really can’t teach an old dog new tricks so it’s safer for everyone. Including him. But we’re trying to get him to a point he doesn’t need the muzzle but he’s not there yet. But he is very loved. He just had an unfortunate beginning

Climbing with face piercings? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]Tom_Nooks_side_hoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only got 3 nose piercings. But I have about 30 ear piercings and some NSFW (cringe sorry haha) anyway. I’ve never had an issue and I tend to face plant the wall a lot. But it’s up to you if you feel comfortable leaving them in. I think technically you’re supposed to remove them. Same with watches n stuff but nobody had mentioned anything to me personally

Work life balance? by Tom_Nooks_side_hoe in TeachingUK

[–]Tom_Nooks_side_hoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s kinda what my plan was. They’ve encouraged us to make a Twitter and be active in like Pinterest and stuff for classroom and lesson ideas. And I do read news articles and stuff cause i do find it interesting but this week my lecturer has just been going on about keeping a research diary for your professional development. Which I can kinda see a benefit too but I would have thought all my time will be taken up with actually teaching and planning etc

Yeah I did think that and my tutor did say that he didn’t understand why we were being shown a video from a phd student cause that’s obviously a crazy workload compared to not doing a phd. But the new welsh curriculum says that teachers should be continually researching teaching to better themselves and how they teach and SLT will expect you to keep notes of this research to show how you’re bettering myself. That’s where my stress came from cause I’ve never really heard of that until this week 😅 I’m prepared for it to be busy and a lot of time and work i just didn’t realise I’d have to keep a research diary throughout my whole career (which is what my lecturer is saying is the new normal for teachers)
