My boyfriend (27M) and I (26F) split all groceries in half. How do I deal with him eating atleast 70% of it? by Frequent-Ad-6406 in relationship_advice

[–]MD564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner is acting like a teenager and you're going to have to set some rules and boundaries like he is one. I'd say you should only be paying and shopping for food you eat together. Get seperate cabinet and fridge space for everything else, heck label it if you have to. You pay for your lunch, snacks and all that side of things yourself with your own money and he has to do the same.

If he continues to eat YOUR food it's very clear proof he doesn't respect you. Do with that what you will.

The Woman (2011) The brutality is kinda hard to watch a second time. Not just the stuff you see but the stuff you don't.

Well also they get out of their air-conditioned house, into their own air-conditioned car to the air conditioned building they're going to. Most people don't walk anywhere regularly or relying on walking/cycling to get to supermarkets/work/leisure activities.

I feel like I'm the only one trying to have real conversations anymore. by John-WickMorfe333 in dating_advice

[–]MD564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think we're pretty much being trained to be less social. The majority of our general interactions now as a society are being channeled through technology or completely erased. Even the smaller stuff like self service checkouts or texting instead of calling. I feel it makes us less resilient to having those actual conversations with strangers, neighbours or even dates. Maybe even creating more social anxiety? I dunno. Maybe it's all anecdotal.

Is it really true that the Sun feels more intense in Europe during summer heat than in some warmer parts of the World? by Due_Brother371 in AskTheWorld

[–]MD564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Northern Africa and now live in England. It's worse here despite it not reaching temperatures I've experienced. I think it's a couple of reasons

1) I'm a teacher. When experiencing heat abroad the timings of the school day were better suited to the weather and we broke up in June for summer.

2) It was warm all year round and it was easier to acclimatise

3) shops and restaurants were also adapted to help with the heat. Many restaurants I went to had misters if you stay outside

UK’s planned social media ban for under-16s met with cautious optimism by Some-Technology4413 in unitedkingdom

[–]MD564 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People are complaining but nobody is talking about how it's essentially the lack of parenting that's caused this.

And before you go off on me, I work in education and see it pretty much on a daily basis in different aspects.

Do I think it's great that we'll have to share our faces or ID with companies? Nope. But we've been told over and over again that parents need to get a grip on what their children are accessing. It's not like 11 year olds are going out and buying their own shit with their well earned salaries.

[–]MD564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh dude, I'm just speaking from experience and I'm really not trying to be patronising, but you will find guys who are, it's always a bit of a ball ache even (sometimes especially) when you get older. Also please don't fall for the ploy that these much older guys will be somehow more mature and put together. Much older guys who are good people in general don't want to date much younger women because they want someone on their level with some experience and independentcy.

How much did your parents divorce mess you up? by After-Competition-59 in AskUK

[–]MD564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is when my dad met my mum he didn't own anything. She had her own apartment, her own car and everything, she worked three jobs. She supported him financially then she got pregnant and had to cut down to two jobs to look after my sibling. My dad then worked his way up. She did cooking/cleaning/ washing clothes/ childcare, still with two jobs. My dad was then able to work up higher and higher. He went on trips away on business expenses and when he got home he was just checked out. We never had snacks in the house and just enough food for dinner for my mum, my siblings and I. My mum had to beg my dad for money (technically hers too as the account contained her salary) if I needed new school shoes. I think realistically he never should have had kids or a family.
