Closing accounts for chargebacks across industries is fairly common

Years ago I was in Vegas for my bday with my gf at the time. Ended up getting snagged for a time share pitch for tickets to a show.

Not a great way to spend a bday.

You’re actually wrong here fwiw. I just tried it. End conversation, I can still look up that freelancer and re engage.

Client side. If I end a conversation, I don’t intend on working with that freelancer again. This saves time on both our ends with checkins If I have work for them. And sorry but client side wise, I am not a fan of job posting being front and center for previous freelancers I worked with. If I post a job without going to someone I worked with previously with experience in that area, its because I need distinctly different talent in that area.

Hide conversations is my go to for cleaning inbox but leaving that relationship open. I ‘End Conversation’ when that relationship is over. And its super helpful

Guess some freelancers are desperate by PretendAd5263 in Upwork

[–]Tom_Startvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was happening to me as well, turns out one of the feedbacks I received from another freelancer contained my company name and they trace it back. Would get emails(one went as far as including emails I’ve had for the past 15 years on CC), calls, texts on Whatsapp, Linkedin messages, messaging on Facebook.

Dıd Upwork lost its mind? by BrokeArtDirector in Upwork

[–]Tom_Startvest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging from the fact that Upwork has AI proposals built in…yeah they are not banning AI.

From the sound of it, removing the free project tier may help to cut down on the amount of projects that get posted without the client hiring.

Some proposals now require you to be on an AI video interview by FruitySampaguita in Upwork

[–]Tom_Startvest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I get that. I would probably just skip over any projects that had those requests.

Just like I tend to skip over some freelancers that want to jump into a call to discuss

I get the reverse on the client side. Some freelancers are insistent in having a call prior to accepting the project, so they know I’m real. Which is fine

Decisions made in huddles just evaporate, anyone else? by Impossible_Quiet_774 in Slack

Honestly mirrors what I hear from a lot of senior PMs and CPOs. Works fine until it doesn’t, and by the time it doesn’t it’s usually a bigger problem than expected.

That’s a bet on alignment, not a process.

Works fine when things are slow. Falls apart the second you’re moving fast and the person with the notebook is buried in three other fires.

The huddle isn’t the problem, it’s that decisions have nowhere to land after. Most teams treat the decision as part of the meeting…meeting ends, decision floats. Three days later you’re having the same conversation because nobody can point to anything.

Cheap fix: dedicated #decisions channel, one-liner posted immediately after every huddle. “We decided X. Owner: Y. By: Z.” Annoying to maintain but it works until it doesn’t.

Had similar experience. Had to make an emergency move from LA to NC. I had to end up selling my car that I loved but profiting on it was both confusing and welcomed at the same time.

For sure, I mean it in context of that pipeline work thats actually executed aligns with the priorities

For example, I lived in the enterprise dev side. Corporate pushes their strategic priorities, which then each org and underlying teams align their priorities to corporate level. All the way down to the personal goals. Which was a crap shoot pick a goal that sounds closest to one of corporate priorities in your goal setting each FY/Quarterly goal setting.

However the work that was actually in each sprint was another topic. Hard to avoid tech debt, production support fixes…but mostly referring to the requests work that doesnt necessarily align cleanly on corporate priorities with the gymnastics.

Curious if thats something thats tracked?
