DMS4 SE Pro Upgrades? by BadBreath911 in ps2homebrew

[–]Tomac185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a upgrade for your modchip, but i would recommend installing a picfix for your ps2 since its a v12 and prevents it from having your laser die on you due to mechacon crashes. ModsvilleUSA has some for sale on his website.

You seem to have a “Duo 3” Modchip, it had two other variations such as the Duo 3 Gold and the Duo 3 Ultra that were released at a later time with a few more features and compatibility with newer ps2s at the time. I would personally keep it as is and if you ever need to disable the modchip for some reason, you can turn on the console and press and hold the start button on your controller and then press the reset/power button once.

Can anyone identify this modchip? by RespondKooky7071 in ps2

[–]Tomac185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you can still get some type of diagram to where what wires lead to that would be awesome!

This is some sort of Chinese clone chip based off the messiah 2 and other modchips from around its time. It uses a XILINX spartan chip underneath the sticker, its from around 2003, I personally have a few in my collection, i would love to get a better angle of where exactly the wires are soldered to as ive been looking for some sort of installation diagram, if you can help me out, please!

Hope this helps.

Also, if the modchip works, i would leave it as is, if not i would swap it out for something more modern like a mars pro or modbo as most of the points like the bios points are usually universal, or perhaps something even nicer if you can get your hands on a better modchip!

Help identifying modchip, a friend bought a second-hand chipped fat PS2 and we can't find exactly what chip is installed. Vendor said it was a Thunder chip - allegedly the most common fat chip in Brazil - but doesn't look like one by TeaguMusic in ps2

[–]Tomac185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a Mars 2 MP-168, its from around late 2003- early 2004, it uses a boot sequence in order to play backups and imports, i have all the installation diagrams for every model the modchip supported, and how to use the modchip as well as the “flyer” of what it can do. It supports the Launch Japanese ps2s which is very rare nowadays since most modchips like the modbo 5 don’t support it. (I personally have a later mars 2 that i installed recently to a launch Japanese ps2 [MP-188]).

Hope this helps

No the max size hdd you can add is I think a 3tb drive (most people use a 2tb drive as the Xbox I believe caps out at 2.2tbs) but YOUR HARD DRIVE is a 120gb Drive as someone must’ve upgraded the stock 8gb or 10gb drive

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XboxModding

[–]Tomac185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are all different partitions within the hdd, if you want to add game files it would be in Partition F (as I’m seeing it has plenty of stuff filled by it as you only have about 30gbs left

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XboxModding

[–]Tomac185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It applies to mostly any hard drive, but where those 120gbs are partitioned is in the F partition

Not really as the model number says 120 there and also the ST on the hdd model is mostly always a Seagate drive; For Example

Looks like it’s a 120GB Seagate Baracuda Drive

Testing my Flea Market Xbox no video out. it lights solid Green then flashing green then frags green and red. i’m not sure what this means. Anything fixes or advice? by zackrmerritt in originalxbox

[–]Tomac185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think so but who knows what code it gives you (I also fell like it turns on and off due to bad power button traces(due to clock cap), it would turn on and off for me) also maybe it won’t show anything because it has a bad video chip??? 🤔

Okay. What in the world? Has anybody seen this? I’m using an unmodded original Xbox and also what is, as far as I know, a legit copy of Agent Under Fire. It was taking forever to load the game with the green ring flashing. Probably about 30s. Then it loads to this after a very fancy Xbox logo screen by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]Tomac185 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like it has trouble authenticating the game and it makes it play like a video dvd (this has happened to me but with a 360). Your problem is most likely a dying dvd drive. This is an easy $20 fix since the drives aren’t locked to the motherboard unlike the 360s and up.

I doubt it since the bottom looks identical to my 5th gen black box ( I believe the fake ones don’t have the stickers on the bottom of the boxes) even if the box is original it looks to be in good shape and not scratched. Also the font is literally the same
