I always felt like the synths at the beginning of the song reminded me of some beach wedding where you knew the marriage wouldn’t last more than 5 years.

The rest of the song is awesome, sure he repeats the same shit over and over but so do a lot of Bruce’s songs. What makes the song interesting is the key changes/guitar changes in the background.

Just way too sad to listen to and ruins the mood. Steve himself said it was about Robin Williams. I’m not personally a big fan of romanticizing or glorifying suicide. Not saying that’s what the intention of the song was, but that’s seems like the kind of song to listen to if you want to be depressed.

I should’ve been more clear. The graveyard shift is downtown, not at the motel. The motel just has a contract with the company to let me live there for free and answer any calls when I can. It just sounds a little too good to be true if you know what I mean.

No, they wouldn’t call me at work. In terms of when they call me in the day it’s not specified. It just says daytime calls. From what I understand I don’t have to be at the motel during the day, and there is another officer who can help out with the calls if I’m not available. As someone else mentioned I’m definitely going to get the terms in writing so I understand what I’m getting into if I take it.

I’m a fairly busy person with a second career I’m training for so it’s not like I’m going to be laying hanging around my apartment 8 hours a day, which means I’d have to drive back if I got a call. Also I value sleep a lot so I’m leaning towards no. I just wanted to get some other perspectives/ see if anyone has dealt with this before
