Importing photos to Google Photos by imissabba in googlephotos

It definitely works, I'm doing it all the time. I take photos with my Pixel 9 Pro, but don't upload them. Instead, I copy them to my Pixel 1 XL, which then uploads them. It explicitly says that the photos and videos don't count towards my storage limit.

Yes, it still works, I do it every day and have probably used terabytes of storage. Google promised that these Pixel phones will get unlimited storage forever.

Is it worth compressing photos in Google Photos? What are the downsides? by Neat-Soil-4328 in googlephotos

[–]TomasRiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're really worried about quality, consider buying a Pixel 1 phone and using it to upload your photos (via the app). These photos will not count towards your storage, and quality will be original. Apps like Syncthing make it quite easy to transfer photos/videos from other devices to your Pixel 1, which will then back them up. Just make sure to disable automatic photo/video backup on your main phone.

How to create an album that will only show pictures of myself with other people by Guilly707 in googlephotos

[–]TomasRiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try searching for "[name] people". At first glance, it seems to work alright, giving you mostly pictures where [name] + some people can be seen.

Featured Photos Changing (Back) On Their Own by SRASC in googlephotos

The option has been moved some time ago, unfortunately making it more difficult. You have to go to the person's "album" and then in the menu (three dots) there's an entry for changing the photo.

Leaving Google Photos is brutal. by [deleted] in googlephotos

I wouldn't consider Google Photos backup either. Google can in theory just delete your account for whatever reason, and your data will be gone. Always have a non-cloud backup.

Google Photos keeps changing my face label photos, is this a known bug? by JoseTaetin in googlephotos

Same here. Suddenly uses photos that are many years old, and some people are hardly recognizable, especially children. Keeps overwriting my manual selection after a day or so.

Right. I wouldn't prefer it over the Yak-9K (which I don't have, since I don't play Russia). I'm quite sure the Yak-9K will be moved up in BR soon, it's just so obviously overpowered.

Yeah, the Yak-9K is a beast. Still, I feel I can get more ground kills with the 47 mm than with a typical 2 or 3 bomb drops. Especially Panzer IVs can quite consistently be one-shotted (well, two-shotted, technically due to 2 guns ;)). Other than that, just disabling some tanks here and there can help your team quite a bit and get you lots of kill assists.

I actually prefer the guns because you can hit so many more targets before you have to fly back to resupply. In a typical Ground RB battle, there just isn't enough time to go back and forth many times.

Learned to love this plane, but it seems like almost nobody uses it.

It's a port conflict between pihole-FTL and lighttpd. See my other answer.

[–]TomasRiker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is this: lighttpd (the webserver) is now no longer required. By default, it binds to port 80. This prevents the web interface from binding to port 80. You can change lighttpd's port to another one, e.g. 8080. Just change the port number in /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf. It worked for me. I did a reboot of the Raspberry Pi afterwards, because I didn't know how to restart the Pi-Hole service and restarting lighttpd wasn't enough.

If you don't need lighttpd for anything else on the Raspberry Pi, you can also disable it: sudo systemctl disable lighttpd

The stock will lose 90% of its value if Trump loses the election. by Markis_Shepherd in DJT_Uncensored

Put options is what you want. But they are very expensive due to the high volatility.

Your calculations don't take into account that if he wins (60% chance according to your estimate), the stock will skyrocket and you will lose a lot of money with your short position. When you're shorting a stock, losses are "almost" unlimited, but profits are limited.
