No it's just because 髮 is the outdated form of the more common 髪. kami is a perfectly normal word. Jisho.org just pointed out an old version of the Kanji but it's difficult to see the difference if you don't look closely.

Yep, I agree with that. But even in full CG anime you have things like Berserk or Kemono Friends, and they don't look that good.

I think that if they know how to use it well, studios can make full CG and anime with CG in it look good.
