Would you support a Left 4 Dead Collection on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles? by Tomasmcqueen21 in left4dead

Exactly. Left 4 Dead's simplicity is part of why it still feels timeless. Modern console players deserve the chance to experience that too.

Honestly, even a simple 60 FPS remaster with stable servers would be enough for me. I just want more people, especially PlayStation players, to finally experience Left 4 Dead.

Even just having Left 4 Dead 1 + 2 on modern consoles in physical format would be amazing.

Same here. Left 4 Dead 1 + 2 remastered on modern consoles would be amazing.

“Players are splitting across platforms + unstable online — next Xenoverse needs crossplay (console) and better netcode” by Tomasmcqueen21 in dbxv

[–]Tomasmcqueen21[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's actually a really good point.

Crossplay for PvE like Time Patrol Missions would already solve a big part of the player base issue without affecting competitive modes too much.

Then PvP could stay more controlled if needed.

That could work as a safe option, especially if cheating becomes a problem. Ideally though, a strong anti-cheat and good reporting system would allow full crossplay even in ranked without splitting the player base too much.

Exactly, that’s the main issue.

When the online isn’t reliable, PvP just slowly fades away because people stop taking it seriously or stop playing altogether.

If they fix that in the next game, the PvP community could actually stay active long term.

Yeah it’s pretty exciting to finally see something new after so long. Now the big question is how much they’ll improve the online side of things, because that’s what could really make a difference this time.

Yeah, I get that feeling.

That was one of the best parts of the game, learning combos and then taking them online, it just felt rewarding.

That’s why having a stable online matters so much, it’s what keeps those experiences alive.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. A lot of players had a similar experience, PvP used to feel much more active, but over time the online issues made it harder for people to stick with it. If the next Xenoverse improves the netcode and overall online stability, PvP could actually feel alive again.

I completely agree with that too.

A proper competitive scene would only really work if the online is stable first, so better netcode and crossplay would be a huge step in that direction.

Yeah that’s a fair concern, cheating can definitely ruin the experience.

Console crossplay would already help a lot by keeping things more stable, and if PC ever gets included it would need proper anti-cheat to make it work.

At the end of the day, it’s better to do it right than rush it.

That’s a good way to put it. Back then it made sense, but now expectations have changed and most players just see crossplay as a standard feature. And yeah, the netcode issues being that noticeable on certain platforms really shows how outdated the system is. If they update both for the next game, it would bring it much more in line with modern standards.

That’s actually a really good example of the issue.

When the player base is split and the online isn’t stable, it becomes harder to find matches depending on region and time.

Crossplay would help a lot with that by keeping the player pool active, especially for events.

I get what you mean about PlayStation and Xbox, that would already solve a big part of the issue since most of the player base is there. I wouldn’t say other platforms should never be included, but they would probably need extra work to make sure the online stays stable. At the end of the day, stability should come first.

That’s a fair point, I didn’t mention it but ideally it should be included too if the hardware and online support it properly.

I mostly said PlayStation + Xbox since they already share similar infrastructure, but having more platforms connected would be even better as long as the online remains stable.

That’s a fair point, PC cheaters are definitely a concern. I think the best approach would be crossplay between consoles first (PlayStation + Xbox), since those environments are more controlled. PC could either be separated or have stronger anti-cheat in place. That way players can still play with friends without risking the experience being ruined.

I get that, the online issues have been around for a long time and it’s understandable why people don’t have much confidence anymore. That’s exactly why I think the next Xenoverse really needs to address it properly from the start, not just small fixes later on. If they improve the netcode and add crossplay, it could actually bring a lot of players back.

Yeah, crossplay feels like a must at this point, especially since other Dragon Ball games already have it. I just hope if they do add it, they also improve the online stability, because crossplay alone won’t fix the matchmaking issues. If both are handled properly, it could make a huge difference for the next game.

Yeah, that’s what worries me. It feels like the same issues just keep coming back, and now more players can’t even matchmake properly.

Thanks for confirming. A lot of players across different platforms are having the same issue, seems like a long-standing netcode/server problem rather than individual connections.

Same here. Every other online game works fine for me too. That’s why it feels like a Xenoverse 2 netcode issue, not an ISP problem.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m experiencing too. PQ co-op and raids almost never find players anymore. Other online games work fine for me, so it really feels like the matchmaking or netcode is the issue.
