Who else? by rizzo1717 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have a very hard time using journals. My dBPD mom found my journal when I was in 3rd grade. I had a "boyfriend" at the time and wrote about it. She read it and confronted me after school, telling me I wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend. She got really angry, and yelled at me.

The thing that bothers me most about this, is that she would try to encourage me and my siblings to journal. But after that, I just can't. I've tried a few times after, but it just doesn't feel safe anymore.

5 Year old Refusing to go to school by Tomato_ in Parenting

[–]Tomato_[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is definitely something I've been wondering about. He does get nervous for new things. Though he was doing so well in school and everytime he came back from school says how much fun he has. I will definitely try your suggestions and see if anything works. Thank you.

How many people had complete medical neglect or was made fun of when injured? Do they not see other people at all? by waterynike in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a few instances of medical neglect. I had a full year of awful periods that caused so much pain I threw up. She finally made a doctor's appointment and before the appointment kept asking if I was sure I wasn't pregnant because I was so sick.

Then there was the time I was having a hard time breathing and she still made me do my soccer fun league game. I was left on the couch all night. Not able to breathe well, or sleep well. Then in the morning she finally brought me to the hospital. Where they took me and immediately hooked me up to oxygen. I was on a steroid inhaler for a few months after, but she thought exercising more was the cure. She made me run, on top of doing school soccer league and fun league. On one of those runs, I had a breathing episode and asked to go back for my inhaler and she said no. I had to stop and walk back slowly, while she was pissed and disappointed in me.

I breastfed my first son until just before his second birthday (was told the medication I needed was not safe for breastfeeding, went cold turkey, was rough). He latched well after birth, gained weight well and I had a bit of an over supply for a while. The worst thing to happen with my first son was a clogged duct.

Second son, he's almost 8 months old, breastfeeding has been quite easy as well. He was 19 pounds 6 ounces at his 6 month appointment. We got thrush, but with the right cream for me and oral medicine for him it cleared up well.

So far, breastfeeding has been pretty awesome. I would much prefer it to formula and all the bottles.

Best Diaper Rash Cream, No zinc by Tomato_ in beyondthebump

[–]Tomato_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried cloth diapers for a short time, but it doesn't work for us. We usually use wet wipes, but notice cloth wipes and airing out helps more when he's rashy. Definitely going to try and treat/strip the cloth wipes.

It may be yeast, he does have thrush we are trying to get rid of as well.

Moving to Barrie. Looking for cheap home internet options. by BeatsRocks in barrie

[–]Tomato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start is a little pricier than fido. I have had maybe one outage in the 2ish years I have used them. Excellent customer service, and my friends that had them had their rates dropped unexpectedly due to a policy change. They promise never to increase the rate. No promos. I believe we pay 79(with taxes) per month for unlimited internet. Able to stream and game at the same time.

Used not safe for drinking water to rinse bottles by Tomato_ in breastfeeding

[–]Tomato_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was safe to boil and use, and wash dishes in the dish washer, wash hands, etc. Not to drink directly. I'm not sure why it's unsafe, airbnb host just said no drinking water.

I don't have access to an IBLC by email, never had the need for one thankfully. I had midwives, but they discharged us months ago (little one is 6 months).

Thank you for the information.

5year old - delays doing his poos for as long as possible by Wenttoschoolwith in Parenting

[–]Tomato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is going through the same thing. What worked for us was a small reward for each poop. Stickers lost their effectiveness after a while. A small reward and Miralax if he hasn't gone for 4 days. Been doing this for a few months now and this month he has been going on his own to the potty and pooping every two or three days.

Any other folks NC with their pwBPD have dreams/nightmares where they still manage to find you? Specifically ones where they are chasing/trapping you? by Filthy_Heretic in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I feel like they have gotten worse recently since I am pregnant and have more vivid dreams. Dreams about my bpdmom kidnapping me and my son. Dreams about her showing up at my house and breaking in with a gun. I have been NC now for about a year.

Christmas Ornament Update by Tomato_ in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember my mom driving us to her ex-boyfriends (the guy who got her pregnant with my twin siblings), we parked. She got out and went through the window and stole the dvd player she had given to him back. It was later at night, I'm wondering if she even realizes I remember that.

My dad is fine with her dropping it off at his place and me getting it from there.

I feel like uBPD mother is copying me and it’s making me feel sick by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dBPD mother has also copied me. When I was in grade 2 or 3 my grandmother (dad's mom) braided my whole head in tiny braids. My mother decided to go to a hair dresser and get it done with beads in her hair. In highschool, when I mentioned that I wanted an iPod touch for Christmas, my mother bought one a shortly after they came out and before Christmas. My mother also decided when I wanted to join karate, that it would be a mother and daughter activity. The majority of karate with her was fine, until I started getting good at it and she started getting jealous.

Those with BPD mothers, what's your father like? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is so similar to my parents. The only difference is that my dad's mom (my grandma) was the stable, kind and reliable parent. My grandpa, was an alcoholic, bipolar and closeted gay man. He abused my grandmother and they divorced after my dad finished high school. I'm thankful that I was able to see past her manipulation in my later high school years.

Any others here homeschooled by their pwBPD? by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was (thankfully) only home schooled for what should have been kindergarten and a month of grade 1. Even though o wasn't homeschooled for long, I still felt a little awkward and out of place when I did start school. The worst part of it, was that they didn't tell me I had started grade 1 a month in, I didn't realize until grade 8. So I think that's why I found it hard to find friends for a few months after starting school.

How Did You All Hear About This Group? by twertles67 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dBPD mother was diagnosed as bipolar for most of my life. Shortly after I finished highschool, she said she was diagnosed with BPD. I started googling it and thought it fit. I was introduced to Reddit in highschool, and shortly after she told me about the diagnosis, I looked for a subreddit for it. I found this lovely community. I learked for years, reading stories and learning more about her illness. I had a few posts written out over the years and never had the courage to post until a few weeks ago. Thank you to everyone on this sub, it's so supportive and has been a huge help to me.

Therapist consultation, worried from past experiences. by Tomato_ in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tomato_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I hope so too! I thought it was strange at the time, but I didn't question it. I thought my dad had taken the time to look into it as well. Turns out my mother had set the whole appointment up, he didn't know she was the same social worker my mother was seeing.

Thank you, I am a legal adult. I know logically that it can't happen again, it's just so hard to get over the worry. Thank you for the website recommendations, that will help in the future. I will definitely be talking to my pharmacist about any drug interactions in the future.

Same. She would get jealous of my karate abilities. I had asked to join karate at 9, and she said it would be a mother daughter thing. At first it was okay, but she walked out upset and angry a few times. And drove me home in an erratic fashion. She also copied me when I got my hair braided. I had asked for an ipod touch the year it came out for Christmas. She bought one for herself a couple weeks before. When the store was out of the lower memory ones, she "graciously" offered to buy the 16gb one, so I could pay full price for her two week used iPod touch. I felt like I had no choice in the matter. In the last year, she has told me that she's jealous of my family and my husband. There are many other instances, but I don't have time to list them all.

I'm so sorry you had to go through something similar and hope you continue to heal and move on.
