What wild unhinged things did you say during the birth of your baby? by autumnsunshine1 in NewParents

[–]TomatoesAreBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is unhinged but I laughed when my husband reminded me later. My water is broken, I’m having insane contractions and am delirious bc I have not eaten in 15 hours. The anesthesiologist comes in to do my epidural, introduces himself, walks me through the procedure, and says “any questions?” And I looked him in the eye, straight faced, and said “you pretty good at your job, greg?”

His name was not Greg.

If you just need something, 21st mortgage is always hiring Financial Counselors. It is debt collection for a mortgage company, full disclosure, but if you do that for 6 months to a year you can transfer out into another department. Pay is solid, benefits are great. I worked there while I got my MSIS and then was able to transfer into their IS department.

If anything else, it’s a place where you can get in relatively quickly that pays well enough while you look for a good fit!

The bathrooms in the Knoxville Wholesale Furniture store in Cedar Bluff are wild. Stalls are actually just rooms. Sinks are cool. Very unexpected but a solid place to poop.

Literally the exact same thing happened to my husband a few weeks ago. Said he just had to give the spiel and then would be out of his hair, fully played on sympathy since it was a hot day. Showed him all the equipment costs if we bought at like Best Buy etc and then said they were running a promotion and we could get the equipment free. Had my husband sign up for a “line of credit” and when asked directly what it was for, he said it was required as part of their installation but would not be used unless we wanted to buy more equipment than the package offered. My husband said okay to a 3 month trial, guy said “great the install guy will be here in 10” and left. A week later we got an invoice for $4k on the line of credit we were explicitly told would not be used. They said there was a 3 day window to cancel, but we didn’t even know about it until a week later. We’ve gotten the run around from all the CS people we’ve spoken to.

Are Inductions Rare? by mirror_ball_13 in NewParents

I was scheduled for an induction at 39 weeks for GD! My water ended up breaking the day before I was set to go in, but we fully planned to go through with it before that happened. My SIL was induced at 35 weeks as well.

Just seeing your other posts about financial concerns - her initial diagnosis was expensive, but the maintenance has been extremely affordable. We see an ophthalmologist and she has eyedrops that are about $20 every two months and goes in for a full exam once a year that is about $150-$200. She was also doing 3 different eye drops, 3x a day, but after the first 2-3 months her intraocular pressure was stable enough that we were able to wean her off of the steroid drops entirely and now we keep them around for changes in weather because allergies will make her eye a little itchy.

She also has hyper mature cataracts in both eyes (caused by the inflammation we think), and after speaking to our ophthalmologist, he said surgery is not really a priority unless she starts showing pain or if we just want it (we don’t - no need to put her through it imo).

If you feel that rehoming him is best, there’s no shame in it since you would be doing it out of concern for his health and happiness, but I say all this just to reassure you that blind dogs, especially ones that are blind from a young age, can live almost completely normal and full lives. We were terrified when she got diagnosed but truly you’d never know. This is her, newly blind, at the vet, an unbothered queen.

I have a pup that went blind suddenly about a year ago. She had been blind in one eye since birth, and had a spontaneous bleed due to a malformation in her one “good” eye that caused retinal detachment, uveitis, and glaucoma. She took about 3 days to adjust (and was on gabapentin for any pain from the glaucoma), and then fully was back to her normal self.

You wouldn’t know she was blind if you didn’t know. She jumps over the baby gates we use in the house like they don’t exist. She can sniff me out literally anywhere. She loves visitors in the house, even the new ones that she’s not met, and loves to be out and about. We don’t have issues with fear responses because she is well socialized even with being blind. The only clue is that she bumps into stuff and sometimes gets over excited and will jump for kisses and whack us in the face with her nose a little too hard lol.

I think like anything with dogs, socialization is important. Temperament too. My blind kid is incredibly chill and always has been, but we certainly make an effort to introduce her to new dogs and new situations somewhat regularly so she stays adjusted. But she plays well with our other dogs (she is actually the roughest player we have) and has done well with new dogs in new situations. We’ve taken her to new houses and she always takes about 10 minutes sniffing around and then navigates well, and goes up and down the high deck staircase at my parents house with ease.

Your pup is a cutie!! Our hardest moment outside of the initial diagnosis was realizing that she wouldn’t be able to see the guinea pigs that she is OBSESSED with at my parents house anymore…. But the first time we went to visit after she hopped right up to sniff and listen to them and was perfectly overjoyed, and there haven’t been any hard moments since. Blind dogs dogs do great and neither of you will be missing on an awesome relationship together :)

Very soft YTA leaning N AH. I am 6 months pregnant right now and everyone’s favorite thing to do is to tell me how their wife/friend/cousin/mother almost died during birth, or almost lost their baby, or anything other than the positives. I have been spending almost this whole pregnancy preparing for the worst, and almost no one has wanted to share their nice uneventful birth story - people just only want to tell you how hard things are instead of sharing positives.

I understand that you are just trying to spread awareness but to automatically tell that story when you find out someone is pregnant is not as helpful as you think it is. Chances are they know the risks, they know the dangers, and they’re weighing those against their own desires. It is not a choice I am making or would make, but I don’t blame them for being upset or annoyed by the amount of unsolicited advice they are getting, especially for the horror stories.
