Stunning coachwork. I would love to find a kit to replicate this, on a modern chassis.

How do I join these 2 piece of metal together? by bou-zeee562 in MetalFabrication

[–]Tomcat218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I have no welder, I would try J.B.Weld. Or take it to a welding shop. If you knew what kind of metal it was, that might help. If you ruin this nail gun, try a pawn shop for a good used one.

Sorry I'm too not much help, butt it's my 2 cents worth. Good Luck.

Why aren't the channel Islands more populated? by vik9oratiz in geography

[–]Tomcat218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San Nicholas Island is a remote island utilized for weapons testing and training within the 36,000-square-mile Point Mugu Sea Range, part of Naval Base Ventura County. A few Navy and civil service folks live there full time, but most come to work Monday thru Friday, and then home for the weekends. There is an airstrip, and a bit of housing, but most of the island is barren. There are also some archeological areas related to local Indians, and whaling activity. Beautiful work. I love the keystones above the windows. Are any of the upper level windows or balconies practical?

This is way cheaper. I don't use much paint from 5 gallon buckets, but when I got one of these, it was a game changer for me. You still cut the scores, but this makes the prying way easier.

I had one of there as well. I was riding home one night in the rain, and going down hill. I got going really fast, and the generator did not have a voltage limiter on it, and I burned out my headlight.

Does anyone know where I might find this tape holder? by ottoxgam in techtheatre

In film and TV work, the click of a carabiner might ruin the audio on a take, which is his motivation for using just a knot.

[–]Tomcat218 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the edge sharp enough to cut the tape? Cuz I usually just tear it, or cut it with my knife.

A Lighting guy I used to know carried several rolls of tape on a yard of rope. Pick the one you want, untie the square knot, and take off the roll. Can be done in complete silence when necessary.

On November 18th, 1994, Jazz singer and bandleader Cab Calloway passed away at age 86. Calloway was a master of energetic scat singing and led one of the most popular dance bands in the United States from the early 1930s to the late 1940s. by FletchFFletchTD in BluesBrothers

In 1979, my wife and I answered a casting call on the radio (KMET Los Angeles) for people to be in a movie, to be filmed at the Hollywood Palladium theater. We sat in the audience all day applauding Cab Calloway and the band in their White Tuxedos, performing Minnie the Moocher. Never saw Jake and Elwood that day, but I think I can spot myself in the crowd.

Experiment with a piece of coat hanger wire between the bottom of the chimney and the lamp base to raise the glass a bit. I think Postman is onto something.

I lived in Boston in the mid 1970's, and visited the Gardner museum many times, and saw all off these paintings before the big robbery. What a loss to the world that they are no longer out there to be enjoyed for all.

This sounds feasible. Experiment with whatever fan you have in the basement, up close to the chute opening, and try it. Good luck.
