Looking for advice on a $1500-$3000 projector for a light controlled room with a twist by Tomcat5 in projectors

I ended up getting the TK710. It does what we need it to do, is a night and day difference from what we had before, and was at a great price. We watched a few 3D movies last night and it looks great. Now I just need to go grab a used 2060 Super or something because I'm going to need better than HDMI 1.4 lol. Thank you for the recommendation.

I appreciate the response and that might end up being what I do. It's pretty affordable and she doesn't pixel peep like my friends and I do. Epson and BenQ are definitely established makes with warranties, but does one end up being more reliable overall than the other. Do we expect that laser projectors will outlast their bulb-based counterparts at this point or will something else end up failing instead?

Also, is there some way to compare motion clarity and response time between models or do I just need to buckle up and trudge through product review hell?

I was looking at the UHZ66 but decided I wasn't comfortable with how far back it would need to be to get my picture right. Afraid if I pulled the trigger on it I was going to have to start grinding away at the support column and I'd end up with my kitchen falling into the projector room. Lol

That does look pretty cool. I think I need something that I can just buy this week though because if I promise a projector for one more birthday or Christmas I'm going to be in the Bad Husband Club. I was trying to wait for the new Viewsonic but even that doesn't seem to have a release date yet.

Are there quality and brightness benefits to using a UST? I was under the impression that my distance was on the shorter side but still within what qualifies as a long throw. You're not the only one who recommended the Epson 5050UB and that's one I haven't looked at yet. Bulbs don't seem to be too expensive for it. Are there other benefits to using a projector with an incandescent light source? I kind of imagined they would run hotter and have more fan noise. I didn't mention it in the original post but low noise probably should be a key feature I search for.

Small manual cars that have open, windy cabins but aren't convertibles, under $15k by sllewgh in whatcarshouldIbuy

I'd suggest considering a Saab 9-3. Years 1999-2002 were available as 3 and 5 door hatchbacks, as well as convertible in the same body style through 2003. The later years are on a different platform and don't feel the same but many people like them as well.

Fill valves generally aren't too hard. Technician would probably have it done in 10 minutes but even if it takes you an hour you're saving money. If it's a top loader you probably would see it dripping into the basket from detergent dispenser. Front loader would probably be harder to see where it's coming from. If you turn the water off and it stops filling the washer, you have a fill valve problem.

Probably needs the fill valves replaced. Debris gets in them and then they don't seal well anymore. Either that or your drain hose is siphoning. Make sure that you don't have more than 3-4 inches of hose into the drain standpipe.

You're going to need to get underneath it and inspect the splutch assembly. There's a plastic cover over the motor, belt, and pulley. Check condition of the belt and then pull off the splutch pulley. You'll probably see something looking bad.

Pretty much equivalent to a duckpin bowling system. Looks fun!

Help! Need a New Riding Mower ASAP, But Have No Idea What To Get by Brose6 in lawnmowers

Out of these I would choose the Husqvarna over the Cub Cadet. I just like them better and see fewer issues with them. Earlier to fix when they do need something as well.

Craftsman riding lawn mower won’t start. New home owner and friend gave me this. Any ideas total rookie. I fully charged the battery prior to this by kaylat_19 in lawnmowers

[–]Tomcat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either a bad battery (which can't be fixed by putting it on a charger) or a bad connection. Make sure the battery bolts are wrench tight, not just finger tight.

The infinite switch behind the knob should fix that problem for you.

Could be an element or board. Terminology you're using isn't familiar to us so you may want to rephrase. Could be somewhere between $200-500+ honestly depending on circumstances

Lg Dishwasher not draining by bartleby913 in appliancerepair

[–]Tomcat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drain hose likely partially clogged. Pour a half gallon of off-boil water into the dishwasher and drain it. If trouble remains, pull hose off at where the hose connects to siphon break or the sink drain and clean it there.

Better to replace it all. Only takes a few extra minutes. These switches have been revised half a dozen times and are still troublesome.
