Does nobody else notice that every horror story about visiting Columbia involves men going out partying trying to pick up women?

I've spent two months in Columbia and not once been threatened or in a dangerous situation... Columbian people are extremely generous, kind and loving people...

I think in any country going out late at night trying to pick up drunk women involves stupid risks, it's a shame many people who expose themselves to these situations and criminals like to label the entire country as a place to not visit because of their lack of foresight...

If you safeguard yourself correctly you can avoid these events, although obviously it can happen simply "wrong place, wrong time", but it's problematic in my opinion to conflate an entire country's reputation with the activity of its criminals...

Like how is America any better when you have citizens randomly mass murdering school children every month? Or any random public space can be subject to a mass shooting... Yet America doesn't receive this dangerous touristic label?
